Emerson LF401EM5 won't turn on; red standby light stays on.

Good evening- I have a TV that suddenly will not power on. Emerson LF401EM5. I have done quite a bit of internet research on the issue to no avail, so I turn to you all for guidance. The TV was purchased about 10 months ago and we don't have reciept (only "proof" of purchase on bank statement unfortunately).

Essentially, I have red standby light on when the TV is plugged in. The remote power button nor the button on the TV will power on the TV.

That red light does not flash. It also stays on about 10 seconds after unplugged, if that information is helpful.

I took the panel off to inspect the board with my limited knowledge. I didn't see any "raised/poofy" transistors nor anything that looked out of ordinary. I also didn't see a fuse at all- I noticed many people online seem to fix their TV power issues by replacing fuses. Maybe some don't have them?

I own a multimeter but have zero experience or tools soldering.

I researched issues where many people had flashing red lights or beeping noises, but exactly doesn't fit my problem description.

Essentially, I want to know how much a repair would cost and if it is economically wise to do so. I paid about $200 for this TV set, but still- it was only a little under a year ago...so I'd like to revive if possible.

    Thank you all in advance!

We will need good clear pictures of the whole backside of the TV so we can see all the boards.
Here are some of the boards used in your TV if they matched what you have.

sounds like an EEPROM issue. There is one available from SJ.

Agree firmware/Spi flash fault. Norcal has a vid on the 46" version stuck in standby was failed firmware. Check the Pson and Bl on signals to confirm.

I'm sorry, could you dumb these comments down/explain a little as to what has occurred?

Also, I looked at the link for that "EEPROM". I see something near the CPU(?) that looks similar- how does it get installed/replaced and what is it's function? I'm assuming soldering, which I have zero experience/tools for. Maybe I could find a friend, though, if necessary?

If a failed firmware happened, is there a way to manipulate the TV with something from a USB drive? Like a rollback or forced update?

Also, I found an eBay seller with the same board "BA4AT0G0201 3" out of a TV with broken screen for sale at $20. Would it be worth me doing that over replacing the EEPROM for $15? That route would only involve screwing it on and inserting cables, correct?

Changing that EEPROM isn't that easy. So if you feel more comfortable changing out the mainboard instead, do that.

Thank you. I will order and update after I install. Please inform me of any precautions I should take before attempting.

I appreciate how responsive this forum is.

Also some advise after you replace mobo. Stop turning the Tv on and off ! Lol what I really mean is power cycle it less as the Spi flash or as CL referred to it as an epprom power cycling it more often wears it out faster so watch it for a good few hours at a time before turning it off.

So the mobo I ordered came in and ended up being slightly different part number (listing title was wrong). I installed anyways and everything is working now!

Thank you all for your assistance.

Last question: should I do a software upgrade on this TV? I have this feeling like it is delicate now and I'd hate to do anything that would damage it again.

Awesome, maybe do a software update if you want
