"I checked the voltage at the main board with and without the LVDS cable connected. There was not 12v anywhere. (The highest was about 2.3v) The cable is not damaged or pinched."
You have to have the switched 12VDC (It will be present when the power supply board receives the PS-ON from the main board) from the power supply board to feed the main board, then that 12V is fed through the switched Power MOSFET to supply the 12V to the T-CON when TV is powered on. The 12V is also used by the Audio circuit.
You should also report the DCV reading of each pins of the connectors of the power supply to see what you have and what you do not have.
Also post closed up pictures of this MEGMEET MLT-198TX power supply connector without the cable in place so we can see the labels of the connectors' pin.

From top to bottom (bottom being where CON5 is printed):
      12.25
      12.25
      -0.02
      -0.02
      -0.02
      5.08
      5.08
      5.1
      4.23
      5.08
      5.08
      -0.03
      -0.03
This is on the main power board at the main connector. It is the only connector that has voltages printed next to it

You correct Voltages (Standby 5VSB, switched 5V, switched 12V, and STB (PS-ON) signal).

So does this mean that the power supply is ok? And the main board is telling it to turn on, but could something else be wrong on the main board?

""I checked the voltage at the main board with and without the LVDS cable connected. There was not 12v anywhere. (The highest was about 2.3v) The cable is not damaged or pinched." Since you do have 12V at the power supply, then you should have 12V at the connector of the main board. If you do have it at the connector then you have problem on the main board somewhere.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
                by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
