Emerson LF501EM5F shuts down right after turning on.

I just bought this tv for $25. Owner was watching tv last Sunday and it turned of. When he turned it on he quickly sees the "emerson" flash on the screen along with this, see picture, then it shuts off.
    Which happens with me also.

    sounds like bad EEPROM,

      How would that be fixed?

I will post pictures of the back with the boards when I get home from work this afternoon. If that would help.

          Here are the pictures.
I unplugged the led leads from the psu same cycling. With a flashlight I could see it doing the same thing.
I disconnected the main board same thing minus the writing on the screen.
          Does that help?

What happens when you press ok for 3 secs? You could try to reset the EEPROM on the mainboard and see if it's resets or not......

This can be also a memory problem on the mainboard , only fix is to replace the mainboard.

How do I rest the eeprom?
              Holding ok doesn't do anything.

Re: Emerson LF501EM5F shuts down right after turning on.

I provided a link. You need to find the EEPROM on the mainboard and short pin 5 and 6.

There is information on youtube and on this site also.
I doubt that it will work but that's what you can try!

In my opinion the memory/eeprom on the mainboard is bad and need to be replaced. A new mainboard will get this tv going again.

Just the power supply board by itself, what DCV do you get at the STBY 3.3V (the test point is on the jumper J151 (ALL 3.3V) close to the black connector CN501 to see if the 3.3V is steady.
Did you also test all those black diodes? I.E. D650 and the rest that have the same big body

Ok thanks Moreno. I'll check out the video. I have shorted the flash chip on wireless routers to get them out of a boot loop so I could then perform serial recovery.

I was told about an hour ago that to test any components on a board that they need to be taken off the board.

You can do the quick DCV test first.
As for component testing I.E. you can test them on board first and see if it shows bad reading then you can lift one leg off the board and then test it again.

The board is still mounted to the chassis? Black probe on the chassis?
OK, you do have Voltage, not 0V as you reported earlier.

With my meter on diode mode I get a beep on D607.
But testing it the third time it doesn't beep anymore. Same with others.

OK, so you do have Voltage. Is it steady?
How about the DCV on jumper J182 (P-ON+21V)
                                J183 (AMP+13V)

A diode can give you false readings when they are in circuit. Check the diode with both probes in diode mode on both sides. If it beeps both ways ( also out of circuit ) then its bad. If you get OL + reading then it's ok.

TV unplugged. Sometimes they beep, sometimes they don't. Are all of those diodes with the number start with Dxxx?

Yes on boards they start with "D" for diode. C for capacitor and R for resistor.

A diode measuring OL/Beep only ( out of circuit ) is bad.

You need to put black and red prope on both legs and other way around. You should get a reading on 1 side and OL on the other side. It can take a reading on both sides but 1 side will go to OL eventually.
