Sony KDL-46EX701 solarized picture, green in black ect

    Hey all!

Normally I stay away from Sony panels but this one is pretty much a rebadged Sharp Aquos (Sharp LCD screen/Sharp t-con).

The picture appears to be solarized like a bad as-15 chip but I did not see such a gamma chip. Anyway I found an exact replacement t-con and still the same issue. The only thing I can think of now is bad panel or bad mainboard.

I tried to do a USB update as the installed firmware is older then what is offered on Sonys website but it seems I cannot get the USB to work because it says that it cannot be installed using this USB device even though it's fat 32 and the same USB device can read pictures and what not using it in media mode in the tv.

This doesn't appear to be the normal screen being bad issue I've seen this on Samsung's and it's always been a gamma chip issue ect. This one has me stumped!

Any help on what to check next would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

pull up the menu from the TV. See if that is clear or discoloured too. But since you already replaced the Tcon and if the menu comes up discoloured, I would say the panel is bad. If the menu comes up clear, replace the main board.

Menu is transparent it's also affected but I have seen both display and OSD affected by bad t-con and mainboard.

The basic test patterns in the service menu are also affected.

May be the LCD panel model does not match the listing in the service menu, I remember something like that in one of the thread.

That's almost what it's acting like, the LVDS setting is wrong, but the service menu is so hard to figure out, and I could not find a manual for this panel.

Any ideas what SM option is set for LVDS?

I can snap photos too of the menu setting if needed.

I found a SM manual for the panel, I'll check the settings vs this manual to see if they match.

I think what the other OP did was to look at the LCD panel sticker to see what the model number is and then in the service menu you will have to scroll through the panel listing in the service until that panel number shows up. I could not locate that thread.

According to the service error menu I have a 005 P_ID_ERR 002, I looked in the SM to see what the correct product ID was for the 701, there are 3 listings and mine matches one of them.

I'll check the back panel sticker and see if it's the same.

Panel sticker matches the Service Menu, so my guess is the video chip on the mainboard is failing I tried adjusting the white balance Gain and Cuts and it made a little difference but still was a "green carpet raster" effect.

Hello, Last week I bought the 50" Sony X80j tv everything was working fine, untill I plugged the tv in a ups power supply 650va the tv remote control became unresponsive and the TV became laggy after a while the picture quality isn't the same as before the tv seems less brighter and the picture is somehow blurry, people's faces don't look as natural as before, there is a mini orange-pink tint to the edge of people's faces especially in NETFLIX Dolby Vision like in One Piece ep1 Alvida skin tone, my intention was to protect the tv but something went wrong I checked the ups with a multimeter,...

Sony XBR-85X950G Gray horizontal lines and vertical picture shift diagnosis?
                    by noisykid
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

Sony KDL-46EX710 Occasional "green ghosting" on picture
                    by whistlergonewild
The KDL 46 LCD has occasional green overlaying the picture. It seems as to happen less often if I control the picture settings to display less brightness, picture, backlight, etc...
It often will flash green for a moment, with the pic still visible in behind and then flash off quickly. I have looked at the caps on the power board and none of them have popped. I have also tried changing the Control Board (t460hw04 V5) with a new one and still no luck. I have also swapped the ribbon cables from the ctrl bd to the lcd and no change. Im thinking of replacing all the caps or maybe ordering a...
