Re: diagnosing sony XBR-75X900H. NO PICTURE
first check the T-CON Fuse i marked it, if you have 12V DC on both side ,, with reference to TV chassis
if there are no 12V on it... take out the power boards and inspect the down side of it if there any remark of burn or spark as you described before.
if there are 12v on it from both side then you have issue on t-con or panelLast edited by Diah; 11-10-2023, 03:19 AM.Comment

Re: diagnosing sony XBR-75X900H. NO PICTURE
If your not sure what setting to have your multi meter on upload a picture of it and we will advise, also when testing try not to let the probes slip as you can short things out also remember your dealing with high voltage when working on the main power supply if your not sure of anything just ask before testing.Comment

Tv testing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWWmz-dbakY. lets skip the remarks about how this is an old tv that's being tested, he explains very well how tvs work.Comment

Re: diagnosing sony XBR-75X900H. NO PICTURE
I swapped the t-con and main board today to see if that would resolve. Now I’m getting no backlight so I will probably swap back and diagnose since I don’t believe that was the issue. I checked the fuse on the t-con board and it’s good. I will take off power board and inspect on the morning but I don’t see any visible damage. I’m really hoping it’s not a bad panel but I don’t even know how to diagnose that besides ruling out everything else. I get 4 red blinks now and nothing turns on.Comment

Re: diagnosing sony XBR-75X900H. NO PICTURE
Testing panel/tcon is pretty easy. I would do this first before anything else.
We need better picture of power board where the cables leaving the PSU to tcon are.
But essentially you disconnect the main board from psu, then disconnect the ribbons at the tcon coming from the motherboard. Then you take a jumper and jump stby/pw on/ tcon on/bl on all at once and then watch what happens to the screen. Also if there is a cable going from main board to a LED driver, disconnect that also.
Screen should then go red/white/blue/green as one solid color.
I would post those pictures first though so we can see the pins for PSU. But there is a few threads that show you how to do this. Including Nick's tv repair video on YouTube. Then you would know if it's panel or TCONComment

by kerberos137Hopefully someone can help me out. This tv was working perfectly until a few weeks ago. At some point, the TV just faded to black, but sound continued playing. It almost looked like smoke on the screen as it faded from the bottom left corner toward the top right. Took only a second or less, but wasn't instant. After restarting, it turned back on and worked fine for another day or two. Then it happened again more or less the same way, but in a slightly different direction, again with sound continuing. I thought it was working fine after another restart, but looked a bit dimmer than before. Then...

by CyberPhoenixHello, Last week I bought the 50" Sony X80j tv everything was working fine, untill I plugged the tv in a ups power supply 650va the tv remote control became unresponsive and the TV became laggy after a while the picture quality isn't the same as before the tv seems less brighter and the picture is somehow blurry, people's faces don't look as natural as before, there is a mini orange-pink tint to the edge of people's faces especially in NETFLIX Dolby Vision like in One Piece ep1 Alvida skin tone, my intention was to protect the tv but something went wrong I checked the ups with a multimeter,...

by noisykid5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

by DKWS89Hey Guys,
So a few months ago my Sony XBR 49x900e TV screen stopped displaying the picture but the backlight comes on and I still get sound when I use the remote and navigate to certain apps. I haven't checked anything with the meter yet but started with ordering some replacement boards. I've tried replacing the BMKS board (used from ebay) and also completed the firmware upgrade based on Nicks TV repairs youtube video. I've also replaced the TCON (twice) and PIB.
All of these changes have resulted in the same issue with no picture. I've also tried disconnecting the ribbons... -
by ronniI have a Sony KD-43XE8005 with no picture on the TV when powered on. Audio and backlight work ok when powering on. Solid white indication light showing on front of tv bezel.
When removing the left hand ribbon cable from the T-con board, a white image is displayed on that half of the screen and a black screen is shown on the right. If I gently rub the ribbon cable on the right an image or purple black bars appear. The cable doesnt appear damaged, and if swapped with the other ribbon cable the same flickering symptoms can be seen.
Removing the LVDS cable results in... - Loading...
