I have a TCL TV and from what I can find out I think it's a L40FHDF11TATBAA but not positive as the sticker on the back is missing. Anyway this TV came in dead totally but I found a bad mosfet and a bad diode so I changed those and now it still looks dead except there is a LED on the power board that gives 3 long flashes and one short over and over. The set still shows nothing on the front for signs of life. I have 365v at the big cap and I only have 3.5v standby otherwise no 24v or nothing at PS_ON or BL_ON. I was wondering if I ran a 1k resistor from the 3.5 to the ps_on and bl_on if it would force backlights on?? Not sure how to go about this one since I never heard of TCL and can't find any guides. The power board is 08-LS182C0-PW200AA Much appreciated for any advice.

Re: TCL TV Dead sort of ??
Are you sure you do not have PS-ON? You do have 365VDC between the two legs of the main filter cap, for you to have that boosted Voltage the main board must be sending out the PS-ON signal to turn on the PFC Voltage booster section. Please verify again.
Unless the circuit uses Active LOW signal (LO = ON).
Disconnect the cable between the power supply/inverter and the main board to see if you will still get 365VDC on the main filter cap.
BTW, 365VDC is kind of low, I expect it to be closer to 400VDC.Last edited by budm; 12-07-2015, 05:59 PM.Never stop learning

Re: TCL TV Dead sort of ??
I see a chip on the mainboard that has a chunk blown out of it.
It's at the middle of the left hand side of the picture, by the HDMI ports.
Edit: Looks like there might be an 8 pin chip that is burnt as well, on the far right side of the image (on the mainboard pic). It has a little bump on it ... might just be dust or flux, but I just wanted to point that out.Last edited by ben7; 12-09-2015, 12:16 PM.Muh-soggy-knee

That chip with hole--looks to be HDMI Controller....
Typical issue when people plug/unplug HDMI's when the things are powered up! HDMI ISNT HOT Plug/Play--No matter WHAT they say!
Prob not worth sourcing/replacing the chip--there'll be other damage I guess too. New Mainboard time...TELEFIX

The HDMI spec actually says it is hot-pluggable...
So basically, if a device fails like that when hot-plugged, then it doesn't fully comply with HDMI specs...Muh-soggy-knee
