Re: Friends Sharp LC-32SH2OU Fades to White

So the scaler board does not appear to be the problem. Same symptom with the new board after about 2 minutes. Something new that I noticed. I had it hooked up to the dvr and when it started to fade I tried fast forwarding and I noticed that the picture was frozen while it was disappearing.

I've looked on eBay for the T-con board but what I'm seeing online is not what I'm seeing in my tv. Is this board underneath the other boards? Do I have to take the metal sheet off to get to it? Also, I see no reference to a t-con board in the service manual.

Is the video board giving me the issue or do I need to totally dismantle this tv?

According to these photos there is no T-Con board on this unit. There's a Power PCB, a Scaler PCB (which is what I've already replaced), a Digital PCB which is mounted to the AV PCB and there's also a Remocon PCB. Is the Remocon PCB what you're referring to as the T-Con?

Now... there does appear to be an Inverter Board that I'm not seeing on the diagrams in the manual...

Update: There is no reference to the inverter but I am seeing it on the left side under the LCD cover.

See what the T-CON board looks like:

You need to lift up the LCD cover as shown in pic #2 of post 22, then you need to remove the metal shield to get to the T-CON. This set is not designed to be easy repair.

Found one on eBay for about 3x as much as that site you had the link to. I also found it on the TV. Wasn't too bad getting to it or getting it out. Looking at it I don't see anything that would indicate that anything is blown but I guess it's possible that static electricity or maybe a power surge did something to it.

So I will order the board and hope that it fixes the problem.

Is that what you're seeing right away? Not even good pictures for seconds? If that is the case, this replacement is worst than the original one.
What do you get if you put the old one back in? all the cables are seated back properly?

I asked him what was wrong with it and he said when he first turns it on the picture is beautiful but then it fades to white after about a minute of it being on.

Yeah, this was right from the get go. I will check the connections tomorrow but I am quite sure they're all tight.

Re: Friends Sharp LC-32SH2OU Fades to White

Must be a bad T-Con board. I checked all of the connections, turned the TV back on after I had it assembled and got the same results. Put the old T-Con board back in and it worked like it did before I switched the board. So it is a bad board.

Got the new T-Con board in last week and now the TV works beautifully. So is this a common issue with these boards? Should I order a couple extra just in case this one dies on me?
