Philips 42PFL3603D/27, image trouble when first powered on

Hello all! It's hard to describe what the TV is doing so I have pictures, and also two video links to YouTube to see it in action.

I've had the TV since 2009 and have hardly used itโ€”maybe 15 hours. I keep it plugged up, which now I wish I hadn't.

Last week I turned it on and noticed the screen was like a solid aqua color, while about an inch of the top was something a little different. If I turn the TV off after a few minutes and back on, it seems to get progressively better, but I have to power cycle it every few minutes to notice any changes it seems. If not, it seems to hang in the same bizarre state with subtle movements in the patterns or colors. In the first video, you can see at the 1:55 point where I power off/on the TV, and though it's crappy, I finally get a recognizable picture.

The issue happens whether cables are attached or disconnected. Also the sound works fine.

Here is the link to my video on YouTube that shows what happens when I turn it on. https://youtu.be/zVSWDqoUiic
At 1:55, I turn the power off and back on, and you can finally see the menu though it has major noise and lines flashing all over it.

The 2nd video shows it working better after twenty or so minutes but still with heavy flashing lines and other strange artifacts. https://youtu.be/L33QPISdVwM

Pictures of my TV with the back panel removed are attached.

Everything looks clean and I didn't notice any blown or failing capacitors or other damage on the boards. I couldn't check the t-con board because I don't know how to access or remove it. It seems to be in a difficult place to get to as you can see in the picture. Any suggestions for the t-con board? I want to try replacing it because I feel it's the likely culprit, and mostly because it's a cheap. I found a new one for 20 bucks.

I have a multimeter, so I can test points on the pcb if someone doesn't mind suggesting what I need to test. The owner's manual is useless in this regard. How do you find a more technical manual for your TV, like something you can actually troubleshoot your TV with?

    Thank you
    Mike

You could measure the lvds on the oscilloscope, but I would reseat the lvds cable on both sides then replace the Tcon.

Any suggestions for the best way to remove the tcon from this TV?

Maybe look for a service manual?

TV manufactors seem to only offer owner manuals, which are basically useless for anything beyond general troubleshooting. Where do you find service manuals, do you have to be a certified TV repair person?

Google didn't offer much, but maybe I should search again.

Sometimes, like in this case, you have to figure out what "Chassis" the TV is based on. For example yours is a LC8.1U LA. I am not sure about the LA on the end as there is another one. Google that and you will find it.

Ok, thank you. I had no idea you could look them up by chassis type. I will see what I can find. Thanks again!

Philips 58PUS8536/12 Backlight ok, no image
                by malekservis
                Hello,
the TV turns on fine, seems to be working, but shows no image outside of a thick white vertical line as it turns on that also disappears almost instantly, and then it's just backlight. I've tried unplugging either side, but still can't get an image. I suspect it's a panel issue, but thought i'd ask some smarter people to confirm. I haven't found any weird readings, but then again i'm just randomly poking around with a multimeter.

                Any information would be appreciated....

                by Kartowl
Hi, my TV image started showing those lines and the image faded away, but sound is still coming from it, what could be the cause and is it fixable? I thought it could be the tcon board but I red on the internet that it could be a failing panel

Tv Philips 55PUS6031 no image, backlight ok
                by Raulnn
good night! I have this TV, with quite poor build quality. It has a tcon integrated into the panel, a single flex from the tcon to the panel, and the 2 panel controller boards joined by glued flexes. There is no way to separate them.

The symptom is that the image is not visible, but the backlight works. How to know if the problem is in the main or in the tcon-panel? I can't override zones.

HP EliteBook 745 G5 - Powered on + no image + fans at full speed
                by Czompi
                Hello,

I've bought an HP EliteBook 745 G5 with the issue that the fans are at full speed and no image is shown, but the CPU is slightly warm.
The laptop (probably) does not recognise when there is no RAM installed (it does not play a tone like other HP machines with Intel CPU, I have no keyboard to see if the capslock blinks).

Is it possible, that said issue can be fixed or it is a dead CPU?

                Regards,
                Czompi
