Hello all! It's hard to describe what the TV is doing so I have pictures, and also two video links to YouTube to see it in action.
I've had the TV since 2009 and have hardly used itâmaybe 15 hours. I keep it plugged up, which now I wish I hadn't.
Last week I turned it on and noticed the screen was like a solid aqua color, while about an inch of the top was something a little different. If I turn the TV off after a few minutes and back on, it seems to get progressively better, but I have to power cycle it every few minutes to notice any changes it seems. If not, it seems to hang in the same bizarre state with subtle movements in the patterns or colors. In the first video, you can see at the 1:55 point where I power off/on the TV, and though it's crappy, I finally get a recognizable picture.
The issue happens whether cables are attached or disconnected. Also the sound works fine.
Here is the link to my video on YouTube that shows what happens when I turn it on. https://youtu.be/zVSWDqoUiic
At 1:55, I turn the power off and back on, and you can finally see the menu though it has major noise and lines flashing all over it.
The 2nd video shows it working better after twenty or so minutes but still with heavy flashing lines and other strange artifacts. https://youtu.be/L33QPISdVwM
Pictures of my TV with the back panel removed are attached.
Everything looks clean and I didn't notice any blown or failing capacitors or other damage on the boards. I couldn't check the t-con board because I don't know how to access or remove it. It seems to be in a difficult place to get to as you can see in the picture. Any suggestions for the t-con board? I want to try replacing it because I feel it's the likely culprit, and mostly because it's a cheap. I found a new one for 20 bucks.
I have a multimeter, so I can test points on the pcb if someone doesn't mind suggesting what I need to test. The owner's manual is useless in this regard. How do you find a more technical manual for your TV, like something you can actually troubleshoot your TV with?
Thank you
Mike
