    TV Question on testing part

I have been wondering about building adjustable power supply for bench testing on TVs. I don't want to spent a ton of money in a high end power supply.

I go to a recycling place every weekend they have a ton of computer/severs parts and cheap.

So what would be the best setup/build for testing TVs?

    Typical LCD TV:
CCFL inverter, you will need 24VDC 5A.
12V (2~3A) for audio and T-CON, 5V (2~3A) for main board, and may be 3.3V (2~3A) for the main board.

      budm,

Is there away to convert a computers power supply over be adjustable on the volts and amps? I know there is the 3.3v and 12v in the computer but the amp are high on some of those lines.

      Thanks Budm :-)

I do not think you will find PC power supply that will putout the 24V @5A, but more likely you can use the 5V, 3.3V, and the 12V of the PC power supply, the higher the capacity of the power supply the better, the load determine how much current will draw from the power supply, so the power supply must be able to supply minimum current requirement by the load plus may be 20% current head room.

IIRC some apple PSUs have a 24v rail at something like 4 amps.

Like the one use in the MAC monitor?:

I save lots of power supplies from TVs with broken screen to use for testing, the difficult part are the connections to each makes and models of the TV.

It looks like I can get 24v from connecting two computer power supply's together.

I would not do that with two PCUs with one PCU case riding on +12v to GND, that's an unsafe condition for me.
