the one with green lines is almost certainly a bad panel. The other one could be a bad LED, but I would think it would throw a 1-1 code if that were the case. I'm leaning toward bad panel on that one as well.

Agree with johnboy that the panel on the first one is probably bad, which hopefully means the boards are still good. That being the case, try swapping the boards, one at a time, over to the dim screen to see if it solves the problem.

can u fix a bad panel ? is it just the tabs coming loose? I had a sony that i put little pieces of rubber between the frame and plastic and it fixed it.

You can try pressing on the tab bonds to see if that changes anything. If not, then it's the panel itself and there's no repairing that.

                Re: Sharp lc-70c6500u

I hate to drag this one up again but before I bother trying to do the tab bonds I would like some input. I have lines in this tv but no mater which side of the tab's I remove the lines do not go away. When I remove the left side from the tcon I still get lines on opposite side and there are what looks like defects in the panel bottom lower left side. If I remove the right side from the tcon I get lines through both sides of the picture. I am guessing this is a bad panel and just wanted input before I start the surgery.

Is pic 4 supposed to be black? Leaving towards left side failure and tab removal... I'm a newbie to this though.

No it should not. It gets darker the longer the TV is on.

does the set have edge boards running up and down the side?
The dark side (right) is caused by that side NOT get proper powering to the tabs on that side. I wouldn't do anything quite yet until you do more looking around.

Yes it does. I have not had good luck repairing bad tab's so if I do this I will have to get the customer to understand that it may not repair the problem. I have not removed the panel braces yet. I did look around and do not see anything that would alert me to other issues.

OK... so the "real test" for this type of set is to disconnect the small corner cable at the bottom of the panel that interconnects the bottom edge board to the side edge board. This allow you to potentially see the WHOLE display / picture... then look at the result. Do this test on both sides to check the result.

My guess based on your pictures, is the panel has TWO problem... one related to the right side (maybe the corner cable is not actually seated properly... or maybe the bottom edge board has a blown smd component on it that feeds that side) and then left side has a tab issue somewhere related to the horizontal lines. :-( Two "fails" are tough to overcome... BUT if indeed the bottom edge board has an SMD problem... you might be able to address this and then deal with the left. Go slow.

Is it a Sharp panel? What i suggest is not much scientific but it's almost the thing i have done on an another Sharp panel tv, save the content of the tcon's eeproms, cut the vcc on the panel's pcb's where it goes on the last tab's last traces, the ones that runs through them without entering the COF (chip) and that feeds power to the side tabs, then switch tv on, now re join the cut traces, re-power tv and see if it works, if you don't have more an image rewrite the eeproms with the saved bin and retry the tv. Theese are desperate solutions because as Budwich says it's almost clear you have a problem on both sides tabs.. and a tabs removal can't save the screen.

Yes it is a sharp panel and before I do any surgery I have to talk to the customer but if they approve it then I will try what you suggest.

For instance in SHarp panels VCC i think it's a 3,3v.

So, when I unplug the corner cable on one side then the other The side I unplug is dark and the other side is light. With booth sides hooked up now the bottom of the picture is not working. Now if I tap the tab bonds one a a time on the left side 2nd one up the bottom half of the picture shows up and if I go up two more and tap it, it is very hot to the touch. There is no change if I do this to the right side. Also now when I plug in the middle left tab connector the sharp logo shifts so that the left half is on the bottom and right half is correct and in the center or sometimes I get no picture with it connected. I did find some corrosion on the first of second tab board on the left hand side in one of the connectors. I cleaned that and still same problem. I for sure know the left side is bad but still not sure about the right since the lines are still there.

the "corner cable test" is done with all other cables connected. Sorry but I can't follow your description of what's what. Pictures might help.

Having said that, the "hot" test is usually a sign of "bad"... but as I indicated, you have something going on in the right side.

I have come to the conclusion that panel is not repairable at all. I may go further but it is a lot of work for me to do and run a store.

I snagged this TV set from a neighbor since I have been successful in repairing numerous other TVs. I assume this probably happens to other TV sets and may have been addressed in another thread. If so please point me in the right direction.

I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

                                          Then each time...

                                          Hi All,

I have a Samsung LA46A950 that intermittently was displaying issues with evenly spaced vertical green lines only on dark / black areas - this has progressed to more often and blue lines sometimes, as well as a little image distortion.

My initial suspicion was the T-CON board, which I took out and cleaned but the issue persists. A heat gun on all of the control boards makes no noticeable change. Ive also reseated the T-CON to panel ribbons (4 of them) and moving them while the panel is on doesn't seem to change the issue.
