You will be better off with the new board.
I had been watching the thread but did not chime in until I was able to get good clear pictures of the board from Shopjimmy to allow me to see how the components are connected on the board to be able to tell you what to test.

I pulled that mosfet and it seemed to check good no short

I may have gone open circuit when it pops, or it can be the output of the IC stuck high instead of switching on and off at high frequency so the MOSFET is fully on and caused over current draw. I would not taking a chance since it is not that expensive.

Hell NOT! Working on the primary is a dangerous thing as you are connected to the mains!

replaced power board and mainboard, when I plug the set in now red light comes on, then the blue light comes on, and screen tries light on its own has some colors very blurry which grows brighter and brighter without hitting any buttons. could this be another bad mainboard any help I would be greatful for thanks.

tv has power and sound now picture is glowing white bleeding to black? cant see any images bad lcd?

its not doing it now, just has backlight! it isnt bright white now, bleeding to black, just a low backlight all I did was try plug in my computer as a vga source to the pc vga input ill try add some pics

why did you relace the mainboard? have you still got the old one to try? also double check you have reconnect all leads and ribbon cables etc i know ive missed reconnecting the odd one and got odd issues.

I replaced mainboard because it had burned spots on it when I got it. it wont even power up with old mainboard ive tried it. the psu was also bad no standby. this tv was surged or was in storm my friend told me I tried old mainboard with the new psu and it wont even power up

also checked all the ribbon cables they all seem in place

you will have to post a picture of the back of the tv as some are built onto the panel etc

unscrewed the back of lcd where permantly mounted tcon was and a square chip with dozens of pins had hole burned through it that explains it

must of been a good surge but hey you can keep or sell the power supply and mainboard, you can strip the panel and keep the leds, so alls not lost plus you have proably learnt from doing the set to this point.
