    Vizio vp422 wont power up

Hey guys, I'm extremely new (first day). so, I had a power surge a couple weeks ago, it took out my wireless router and also my 42" vizio.
    It's a VP422 HDTV10A.
It has no amber/white light at all. Completely dead, I can see a small green LED through the back panel however. If I unplug it, and plug it back in, the screen flashes white like it's trying to come on, and the amber light comes on for a half a second, then it is again completely dead. the power button doesn't work, only unplugging and then re-plugging(?). I was hoping this is just the power supply? The only thing that got fried on my router was the power supply transformer.
Anyway I did read about a "2 seconds to black" issue that sounded similar, but after reading about it a little, it sounds a bit different....
    Any thoughts/suggestions?
    Thanks for any help guys...

Upload clear pictures of the boards from your TV.

Check the fuses to see if its dead.

All the fuses I could readily identify are good.

Ok so I finally checked all the voltages at the test points on the power supply board. They are all good! I was surprised. So. What could I look at next? This is the voltages I got and what they're supposed to be.
Thanks for your help. I was hoping it was the P/S board... :-(

Anything? Don't know what to look at anymore basically. Could the control module board be bad? Is there anything to check there?

                          Thread necro here:

Found same problem today on same model.

Problem was OPEN cap C8002, 22uF / 450v, 16 x 30mm just below central heatsink. In the picture in post 7, it is left of the smallest of the 4 transformers in a row, T8001, and right of fuse F8002.

Also, several of the small caps (5mm) are all over the place in ESR, so they'll be going too.

Yes, set is a bit long in the tooth, but the client doesn't have a lot of money to spend.

                          Cheers!

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                            Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power

                            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Why does my ISP router hate my "homemade" power supply??

                            Hi all,

It's gonna be a long intro, so please buckle in, as it's a problem that's been bugging me for several days now. Thanks in advance.

So, I have 2 modems/routers, whatever the proper nomenclature is, one from ISP and one mine. I want to power them via USB-C rather then their original mains adapters (for reasons, that are hard to explain to sane people). Both routers come with 12V/3A mains adapters.
For this purpose I acquired USB-C charger with 250W and 5 ports, 2 of which can supply max 20V/3A. Since 12V isn't a standard PD voltage option (and to future proof,...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                            by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
