    Hisense LCD 32W58

Supplies OK, screen lights on, screen working, but no signal, no menu.
I don't want to tell customer it is the expensive signals board - is it?

Depends what you mean by "screen working". Do you have sound and did you check the tcon fuse ?

There is nothing on screen, no menu, no stations, no sound too.
It is dead, except that it reflects a little light from the screen lamps.
      Didn't check the fuse.

Your information is a little thin. You don't say that you used an external audio source connected to the tv and cycled through the inputs so at this point I am still unsure whether you have sound or not.

Check the tcon fuse first. Then verify that the unit is not producing sound. If there is indeed no sound the main board is likely the problem.

Have you verified all voltages to be good ?

          OK, thanks; appreciated.
Going to check what I can, and come back.

Yes, fuse on t-con panel blown up; bridged it and gone again [had ribbon cables disconnected - as per picture].

Sounds like a dead short somewhere which could be difficult to find. You can start by checking diodes and transistors for shorts, even the voltage regs. Has this set been messed with before ?

No, it was not touched before - this was its first fault.
I already found the culprit - the regulator transistor UP5, to the left of the panel, with AQU913 printed, don't know what that means - see picture.
In any case, panel will have to be replaced, I think, and I already contacted agent - waiting for price and availability.
Thanks very much for your clue.
