Re: SHARP LC-46D65E Dead power led blinking twice

Update so far on this set.
(received remote from Tom this morning how goods that thank you Tom)
After switching set on by power switch on TV with AC lead installed, Original fault displayed green Power LED light on then turned orange flashing orange for 9 flashes then turns green then you hear buzzing noise back lights flash on/off then Power LED flashes twice repeatably. I then pressed menu on the remote and the Power LED flashes red twice and the OPC LED flashes green 5 times . The first 2 flashes are in sequence with the 2 red flashes of the Power LED.
Now looking at chart on the service manual this indicates Panel power supply error ?
Now giving that i was measuring 3.19v on pin 12 of PD1 connector would i be right in assuming that the fault is on the main av board and not on the power board ?

You do have 12V for panel:

So check the Voltage at the T-CON fuse.

Having trouble locating T-CON fuse ?
Also looked in manual for T-CON layout bit vague to say the least could do with pointer where located on T-CON board !

Not sure if this scan will be clear enough to see but if the ones i have circled are correct i am getting 0v either side ?

Re: SHARP LC-46D65E Dead power led blinking twice

Then 12.04v from PL plug pin 1 that goes to P7003 I-CON board drops to 0v when set buzzes back lights flash on/off then power LED flashes ?
Would this point to the I-CON board being faulty ?

I have also measured this voltage with ribbon cable from T-CON board to LCD removed one then reinserted and removed the other and then removed both , the voltage dropped to 0v on all occasions. Would this point to T-CON faulty?

T-CON i am on about Tom sorry should read what i am typing.
Are their any known faults on these boards or is it swap board only?
If it is a swap board maybe you have a T-CON board Tom?

Re: SHARP LC-46D65E Dead power led blinking twice

According to the service manual power LED flashing red twice and the OPC LED flashing 5 times is a power panel fault? But giving that i have 12.04v at switch on and the dropping at error point does this mean main processor is switching this 12.04v off or is the T-CON taking it to ground? or is it a power board fault ?

Re: SHARP LC-46D65E Dead power led blinking twice

I had a panel power fault on my LC-52XL2E when I pinched a ribbon cable between the two panel boards.
Replacing the ribbon cable fixed the fault - although the fault was originally caused by me pinching it while putting the LCD back together...

                          Sorry Tom
I am a bit unsure what you mean?
Do you mean you took them out and replaced ?
Or do you mean you squeezed the ribbons and how ?

They are ribbons that connect between the parts of the LCD.
One centre board with two ribbons, then ribbon cables each side to left and right.
                            Where the tabs connect.
This fault could be caused by liquid damage to the tabs - although I'd expect the fault to go with the cables disconnected.
Maybe check the main board schematic and see if you can fool the panel power detect algo - might help eliminate t-con/etc.

Looking at schematic i can see a IC 2003 on main board on this IC there are one pin marked DET_POW with a line leading to it written on that is DET_PNL_12v and i can also see a pin on the same IC 2003 marked up ERR_PNL with line leading to it marked up ERR_L This line is coming from p2603 on main board which is connected to LB1 (EU) plug on power board. It has six wires on it and marked up inver 1 to 6.
Would i disconnect the pin on IC 2003 for DET_12v or isolate the lead on plug p2603 marked ERR_L ?

What about that cable that goes between the main board and T-con board, but it's not an LVDS cable? I think that has an error indicator on it... IIRC, when I disconnected that on an LC-32DH66E it threw out a panel power detect error.

Can I see the pictures of the whole back side of the TV so I can see the cables Tom is talking about?
The service manual does not show how all the boards are connected together.

The smaller 4 pin one carries power to the T-con (Sharp do not use the LVDS cable for T-con power), the larger one carries some control signals, I believe related to gamma voltage programming as the gamma voltages can be adjusted from within the service menu on many Sharp TVs.
