Re: RCA RLVD3282a No Led Backlight

No need to. It turns out there are test points already there I was just testing wrong since I thought they were in parallel. There is a test point between each led, you can see one above the writing in the second pic of post 6.

I've replaced the led and dome and now waiting for the glue to dry. Not really the same but the alternative was to have a darker spot. Six of one half dozen of another. I'll post a pic of the working backlight later today.

Here's a pic of it working. In person the replaced led has a slight yellow tint where the others are white. I would expect it to be less noticeable when assembled. The replaced led is on the left in the close-up.

Nice! I doubt that you will notice it.
Is that the same LEDs you sent to me?

Yes same one. I hope it doesn't run too hot for the dome ? I don't know if I could adequately test that without the screen being back on to trap the heat.

BTW, may be running the BACKLIGHTS level at around 80% may help prolong the LED's life.

              Good idea, bud.

This backlight doesn't run hot at all so I don't think heat will be a problem.

Re: RCA RLVD3282a No Led Backlight

Hi I need some help as have the same problem as described here for a RCA LED model RLDEDV4255. I found a burnt led and did a bridge between the 2 test points and got the LED working only for a bit until another LED burnt.

Now I would like to try what mmartell did replacing the led and dome but no idea how to do it. Any help will appreciated.

I am attaching a picture of the bridge I did. Sorry it is upside down.

                Thanks for your help.

Norcal715 posted a great video on how he removed the dome and replaced the led. It's an LG set, but it looks like you can apply the same ideas to your set.

                      TV backlight zener diode
                      by unimatrix93
Hello everyone, I'm repairing an LG TV backlight and I noticed some strange behavior when I touching the backlight strip with a missing Zener diode.

So I replaced the leds on the strips and they seemingly working fine, but soon as I touch the strip which has a missing Zener diode the whole backlight turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on.

Is this caused by the missing diode? If so what kind of zener diode should I use to replace it?.

The led strips has 9 6V leds.

this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

iMac power supply short-circuit diode to ground
                      by pcardoso73
                      Hi,
I have an iMac with the power supply reference: ADP-200DFB.

This power supply is not working and when trying to debug the problem with a multimeter, I found what I thought to be a short circuited diode (the short-circuit is to ground).

With the continuity test it beeps both ways, so doesn't block current flow at all then reverse biased. But after removing the diode the beep continues and the diode seems healthy. It seems to exist a real short-circuit.

As I have another ADP-200DFB power supply (faulty one as well), I have checked the same...

iPad Pro 12.9 5th Gen Backlight Issue
                      by cheebster
Hello, got an iPad Pro A2378 12.9 5th gen with no backlight. Got another test unit without screen, tested the screen, still no backlight with the test unit.
Figured out the backlight on the screen was bad, ordred a new backlight from mobilesentrix, *carefully replaced it* without damaging the lcd, oh well.
Final result, issue is still there, the screen has no back lights. So i'm back to square one, with 3 hours less and 100$ out, issue still on the screen.
The panel is still ok, i can see the apple in the middle of the screen when it kicks in, just no backlight.
                      Anyone...
