I appreciate all the info shared in this post. I was able to revive my brother's 47-inch Philips that had the flamed out C700. Burned a hole straight through the board. When I saw it I didn't think there was much hope. I couldn't even read the top of the cap it was burned so bad. Turns out the transformer was ok, after I cleaned all the soot and carbon from it. I used a (brown) Xicon 220nF/630V film cap, and had to wire the cap directly to the Xformer terminal, as the pad was completely gone.
The TV is working fine so far on day 2.
