    Re: Phillips 47PFL3603D/F7 No Power

Did my pictures help to understand what I was talking about? Are those zoom settings controlled on the power supply board?

      Re: Phillips 47PFL3603D/F7 No Power

The power supply only supplies the power, nothing to do with size of the pictures.
The picture size (P.SIDE, WIDE) control is done by the remote control on in the on screen setup menu.
So the screen changes screen mode by itself? I see the pictures are stretched but it not rolling like losing Vertical hold, right?

Vertical sync is fine. Never rolls. It does change on its own. Tried searching loose connections and freeze spray but made no difference. It has a mind of its own.

Something on the main board is causing it to do that. Do you have the remote that you can change the pictures back to normal when it acts up?

Works great with the new factory remote. No more problems. Thanks for all the help. Are there any other caps I should replace before I button this thing up?

                Glad to hear that.
I usually I recommend at least to replace all the caps in the secondary side (those on the bottom right corner of the board):

There may be or may be not more wrong with that PSU. Nothing shorted?

Power surge or lightning strike. Quite severe damage to those caps.

Replaced the following parts (the 2 ICs were replaced just to be safe..)

                        FS1 (8A, 250V), C670 & C671 (150uF 450V), U101 (FSQ510), U201 (NCP1207ADR2G)

All seems to be good now..

What is the value of r5 (the one that smolders).
I could only find out that it's a 1 watt.

                            I think it's a 120 ohm, I'm reading 118 ohms.

                              Re: Phillips 47PFL3603D/F7 No Power

I got one of these the other day and posted about it but as a noob I didn't do such a great job on the title and focused on the power supply board part number not the TV model. So I thought I'd breathe life into this thread. You gotta love these iPhones 'casue as I was looking at the pic's putting this post together I found two fried components that I didn't notice the first time.

Here's where I'm at with this. As you can see there's some damage! When I plugged this in the first time I heard a pop and a sizzle sound and could smell fried electrical parts - but the screen lite up and I could navigate the menu. I plugged a laptop into the HDMI 1 input and it auto detected the signal and displayed the screen. It looked a bit dim though. Without a signal you can see that the backlighting isn't even and the vertical middle of the screen is quite dark.

Took the back off and inspected the top of the PSB but didn't see any damage. The back cover of the TV showed signs of localized heat (nice smoothed out spot directly above one of the big caps noted on the pic) but the cap doesn't appear to have sustained any damage???

I checked the 6 fuses that I found and they all have continuity.

I need help identifying the parts that need to be replaced. I've included a marked up copy of an undamaged board pulled from earlier in this thread.

I welcome all recommendations with an open mind... Thanks!!!

That is quite badly scorched Check your bridge rectifier too in order to be certain that none of the internal diodes have shorted.

Personally because of the state of it I would considered replacing the power supply and keeping that one just for spare parts.

Unfortunately, sad commentary on the state of things, but with the cost of a new 47" LCD compared with the cost of a replacement psb for this one I'd say this one is done. Does it appear that the LCD is a usable part? What do you guys call the board with the digital tuner on it? That is clearly working and worthy of eBay.

Well there is a bad board on ebay looks like a bad transformer for $33. Might be able to make one good one.

Quick question, what is the part of the TV called that the power adapater plugs into? One of my pins on this model has been pushed back into the TV and I need to replace it.
