No Picture Samsung LED TV

Hi guys paid £15 for a 40" Samsung series 5 LED tv, model number : UE40D5000, The PSU that is in the tv is BN44-00422B Rev1.3 and AV Board is BN41-01661.

the tv powers on etc just get no picture / menu / input etc.

i have tested the voltages and are stated below if anyone can give me an idea on how to resolve this issue as not worked on many LED tvs yet.

from PSU to backlights i get 133.2v, 133.2v, 60.6v and GND.

on PSU to Main/AV board i get

You didn't say if the backlight works or not.

No backlight = probably bad LEDs or LED driver or connection
No picture = 90% of the time it's the LCD panel that's bad on these

still get a backlight... is there any further testing i can do to determine if bad panel ?

First check the T-con board if it has any power, then look at the LVDS signal from the main board on a oscilloscope. Just flick the menu on and off on the TV and you should see a difference on the oscilloscope.

Does it use the RUNTK5351TP T-con these are failing on this and other models big time and not cheap to replace, backlight on with sound but no picture Flocko

how can i check the T-Con for power ? and also i cant check with oscilloscope as havnt got one

You can check at the fuse...
and consider investing in a basic analog scope, they are available on eBay for sometimes less than £50
(do not get a USB or "toy" LCD scope, they're useless; pick up an old, big, heavy CRT scope with 20MHz or more bandwidth and you can test a lot of things)

the Tcon board is BN41-01678 and it says model is S100FAPC2LV0.3 if thats any use ??

That's a samsung T-con.
RUNTK.... is Sharp's prefix for LCD TV bits.
I know some Sharp panels are having no picture failures.

You can try disconnecting one of the t-con ribbons and see if you get half a picture, if so that confirms the panel is bad (try both ribbons)

And pictures! Pictures!!!

Tom, I tried disconnecting each ribbon and still the same no picture. do i test the voltages on the point i have circled in red ?? and also where is the fuse on this board ?

Green fuse with label 125V/ 3A printed on the board, someone may have replaced the SMD with PICO fuse.

do i just test it as if im testing a regular fuse ? should i test the voltage points next to the fuse also ?

Just check voltage at either side of the fuse

measured voltage on fuse and got 12.65v in and 0.03v out

IF there's 12v one end of fuse and nothing the other--

WHAT Does THAT mean! You been doing these long enough now to Know the answer!!

yeah i know Alaistar E, what should i replace this with though ? i guess someones tried to repair beforehand and put in the wrong fuse ?

Does it look as though its been out?

The rating of it should be on the board. You can tack some wires to a conventional fuse of the right rating and tack that across the original as a test.....

As to that ebay fuse--I ve no idea--Whats the ratings of the original--As should be marked on either it--Or the board....

will try that, maybe a bit of speaker wire ?? board says 125v 3A which is why i was thinking this would be suitable ?
