You just need a thick skin to deal with all the imbeciles asking for "lowest price"... What part of **make an offer** don't they understand?! Argh I could rant all day about the idiots on Gumtree but they buy my TVs so I can't really complain that much......

Price that can be got is depending on area sold in as much as the set itself....

Never had good prices from the Facebook sites but there aren't that many good ones in my area.

Re: Polaroid P32LED13 stuck in standby

A little more investigation into why this panel looks as bad as it does...

I know you can't expect much from an LCD TV for £160 but this is genuinely the worst panel I've ever seen. It looks so bad, I would say the gamma IC is defective... except, it doesn't have one! There is NO panel level gamma correction. How do I know?

I set up test patterns on my uncalibrated 9G Kuro and compared them to this LCD. A good panel, each quantisation bar will be almost the same width (and they will start around level 1/4 the way in, this is normal) but as you can see, the bars on the Vestel vary in length, whereas the Kuro (and any other respectable display) will keep them the same.

What's happening is the Vestel set is driving the panel with 8-bit corrected gamma values generated by the main processor, which means it's basically losing loads of low-level graduation detail. It's also deriving the panel gains on the main board which causes a bizarre colour stair-stepping effect on short gradients, like you get on faces. Result: everything looks like a very bad oil painting.

It's the equivalent of driving the panel with something like 4-5 bits of colour resolution in the low end, and 7 bits in the high end bright stuff (you really need the extra resolution in the low end - human eye is pretty bad at seeing differences between two bright sources but pretty good at seeing differences between two dark sources.)

Yet, I'm sure people will say, "oh that has a nice clear picture". and it doesn't matter but this is such a serious problem it's not even something like a videophile complaint, and I'm no videophile, it's literally completely wrong according to all the standards of HDMI and the like regarding colour perception and decoding, so I have no idea how it passes any of the related standards.

For future reference TV sold for £100 to a pair of students yesterday so the market isn't too bad around here.

I think they simply have no clue. It's just a TV to them, it's cheap as hell, and they gotta get it fast before someone else does so they can run home and watch the latest mind-numbing rubbish from Hollywood.

The concept of the thing being low quality probably doesn't even cross their minds, likely due to copious consumption of the aforementioned Hollywood garbage.

Hi. I have the following problem with my TV. After connecting to mains, the standby led (red) turns on, but TV is not responding to remote control or buttons on TV. After some measurements, I found out that +5 V standby voltage is present, but I dont have ON/OFF signal coming in to turn PSU on. It stays at zero volts. After looking at the schematic of the mainboard, I should get ON/OFF signal coming in at the R1402 resistor, but it stays around +3,5 V. So I removed it and I was able to turn on TV with buttons on TV, but not with remote control.

What could be the problem ? Thanks...

When the Main board is disconnected, the back lights are off but tapping on the chassis makes them light up and all voltages are then good. Connecting the main board up makes the TV work normally until moved. LED INERFACE STRIP BN41-01971A has a short on the first 2 pins on the left of the picture, the cable tests good. All the other pins and all LED strips test good. Is there an easy way to fix the short or do I need a new interface. Any help would welcome.
