    Philips 40PFL5605

Hi, my 40PFL5605H/05 TV does not power on properly.

The 3.3VDC comes on and stays on.
The 12VDC then ramps up and stays on for about a second but then goes off again.
The 12VDC does this three times in sequence. Then stops.
Finally the red LED on the front flashes twice, stays off for a few seconds and then repeats.
All the fuses I have been able to find look ok.

The PSU board is a DPS-206CP.
The main board is labelled twice as a:
    3104 313 64003
    3104 328 63141

I haven't been able to find a circuit for the PSU. Any ideas on this?
I've downloaded some comprehensive manuals but they don't seem to contain a circuit for the PSU board or a description of the fault indicated by the flashing LED.

Anybody know where I might get a list of faults associated with the flashing LED? Or any other ideas?

    Thanks!

    Hab-cat.

Pictures of the model number sticker with chassis number, and pictures of the whole back side of the TV, the boards (especially the power supply board top and bottom sides) will help.
          Is this your board?

Since it is made by the OEM so I doubt that Philips will publish the schematic for the power supply made by DELTA.

                Re: Philips 40PFL5605

I'm a bit lost on the chassis number to be honest.

Other info on the back of the TV is:

                40PFL5605H/05
                SN 1A1017 003313
                Display 932227618682
                Sharp LK400D3GA43U
                B1143

The manual I downloaded which looks close says the chassis is a:

                Q552.1E
                LA

But nothing like that on the TV.

Does the DC voltages pulsing on and off three times as stated above tell us anything?

                Thanks!

"Does the DC voltages pulsing on and off three times as stated above tell us anything?" I will have to trace out the circuit on the board to see how 12V is generated.
Please give me the list pin names of those two white connectors on the power supply board that go to the main board.

OK, the #2 STANDBY (same function as PS-ON), check DCV of the pin when TV is OFF and when power switch is activated, see if it change state when power switch is activated and when the 12V goes back down by itself.
Most TV PS-ON signal will be <1V when TV is OFF, and >2.5V when power switch is activated and stays at that level until TV is turned off, that is called ACTIVE HIGH.

                        Hi, thanks for your help.

The #2 Standby also pulses at mains-on between 0-3.26V.

It gives an initial quick pulse and then pulses the inverse of the 12VDC and the 24VDC. So when the 12V is on the 3.26V is off. Finally it stays on and the LED flashes.

I managed to find the below from a Philips manual.

PNX doesn't boot (HW cause) 2 15 Stby μP P BL PNX8550 SSB

This basically says that the main SSB board is faulty with a processor hardware problem, stopping the SSB from booting up.

So unless somebody can explain otherwise, it looks like I have a dead processor board.

If I buy a new board (where is best?) is it probable that I'll get this TV up and running again? Or could there be other problems?

Hi, I managed to replace the main board.
TV now powers on fine but the image overlaps as shown in the picture.
As you can see this problem is common for onscreen menus and external video.

Was my replacement board incorrect or is there something else I need to do to fix this?

                              Thanks.

I went into the service menu. The only relevant option I saw was TCON alignment, which is set at 0109.

I tried to change it but it made no difference.

Does anybody know what this is, or how to fix my problem.

Did you ever run across information stating the need to use the Options Code and the Screen Diversity code to configure your SSB? I think that was the necessary step you were searching for.

Wondering if you were able to fix the picture and get this Philips set up and running properly.
