Re: Pioneer Plasma PDP 503PE. No Life Suddenly
I stuck in an old wirewound power resistor I had handy.
Would the resistor I took out (don't have it here) have special switching characteristics also?...

Re: Fluke 23 Fusible Resistor
Ok, I can see where you are coming from on this. I'm no expert for sure, but I was hoping that there might be some simple test to check the functionality of the other components. Would Fluke test these protection devices before shipping I wonder?
They look good visually so I'll just leave well enough alone. Thanks for all yer help....

RJ1, RJ2 and E1, as in the attached input circuit....

Re: Fluke 23 Fusible Resistor
Mine is a Fluke 23 Series II see attached.
So as the other components are reading open circuit, is there anything I can do to check that they are working? Without over risking more failures of course....

Re: Fluke 23 Fusible Resistor
Thanks, I replied above before I refreshed the page.
So are Thermistors and Fusible Resistors the same thing?
That looks like Rt in the circuit but I think it's actually R1....

Thanks, how do I test that spark gap?...

Re: Fluke 23 Fusible Resistor
Ok, there seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there in relation to the devices in the attached circuit and photos. People on here seem to be making the most sense thankfully, so thanks.
Replaceable fusible resistor is ordered as above and on the way.
The two red MOVs, RJ1 & RJ2 are reading open circuit in resistance mode.
The yellow thermistor (PTC) E1, is also reading open circuit, so I presume this is blown.
So if I'm correct above I just need to find a thermistor which is labelled...Last edited by habanerocat; 03-07-2020, 10:44 AM.

Re: Fluke 23 Fusible Resistor
I presume the PTC you are talking about is the Variable Resistor, R1?
Or the Thermister E1/DS1?...Last edited by habanerocat; 03-07-2020, 07:05 AM.

Yea, came across that site in a search. Very informative....

Re: Fluke 23 Fusible Resistor
I can't remember how I blew it. Think it was a 400V motor failtfind many years ago. Let's hope the MOVs aren't blown as I haven't checked them.
Thanks for the link but getting parts from the US is very expensive....Last edited by habanerocat; 03-06-2020, 12:45 PM.

Managed to get some 10% substitutes on ebay Germany.

Fluke 23 Fusible Resistor
Hi,
I have the above DMM with a blown 1K 2W Fusible Resistor on the input circuit.
Maintenance manual says to replace with the exact part for safety reasons.
But I can't find this part or get a substitute for my usual suppliers here in Ireland/UK.
Any ideas?
Thanks..............

Re: Carlsbro Colt 45K Audio Amp
Seemingly these Darlington transistors don't test very well in circuit, or out of circuit for that matter. So I took them out and built a simple ciruit up on a breadboard. Sure enough the one that was almost short above was blown.
Amp back working............

Carlsbro Colt 45K Audio Amp
Got one of these to repair and need some advice please.
Basically it's blowing the two input 2AT fuses after the transformer on power up.
I upped them to 3.15A but they also blew.
The transformer output is ok and the speaker reads 4 ohms in circuit.
As you can see the board is a bit burned at the power transistors (TIP137 & TIP 132). One of them is reading 1ohm across two of its pins. The three serial diodes look ok.
I haven't been able to find a circuit for this amp online. Anybody got one?
Obviously I suspect...

Re: Toshiba 40L1333DG no power, blinking green/red power light fixed by flashing firm
Ok an update.
TV still wasn't 100% right, especially on a cold start. Also the terrestrial tuner wasn't available in the tuner menu. So I download the latest firmware and load procedure from the Toshiba website. Tuner was now available and worked fine, but TV still wouldn't turn on consistently. Just a flashing green light.
So I took the drastic step indicated in the third link in my post directly above. @steviewonder is a genius. Many thanks to him.

Re: Toshiba 40L1333DG no power, blinking green/red power light fixed by flashing firm
Thanks for the help above.
I think these Tvs break down a lot leading to "Too Much Information" and hard to find an exact solution.
The link in the above post lead me to other links in other posts and the whole thing became confusing.
I finally found this link. Post #8 contained the correct procedure and firmware for my TV. So thanks to @asek94.

Re: Toshiba 40L1333DG no power, blinking green/red power light fixed by flashing firm
I'm digging up this thread as there is lots of info relevant to my questions.
I have a Toshiba 40L1333DB TV with symptoms as above.
I tried to load in the above files but it didn't seem to work.
Then I found a a bin file, Toshiba 40L1333DG.bin in the "Eeprom dump thread!", but that didn't work either.
I hold the "OK" button on the remote for 10-20 seconds, blink rate changes, but nothing seems to happen after that, no matter...

Re: Samsung Plasma advice please.
Thanks. I have an oscilloscope.
If you could point me in the direction of another guide, that would be great....
