Samsung UN32F5500 smart TV no backlight

    Hi all,

The backlight of my 1 year old TV (Warranty finished) stopped working. Replaced PS board but that did not help. Opened the LED backlight panel and found 1 strip (out of 5 strips with 9 LEDs on each strip) not working. Because of not having experience, I ended with 2 entire strips burned out.

LED driver output from PS board reading: 160 V, 320 mA

Made custom LED arrangement (36 V and 240 mA) per strip using cheap 4.8 watt/meter led strip. The TV is working for 2 days (not uniform light though) but don't know when it burns again.

    1. Can anyone please help me finding replacement LED strips for UN32F5500afxza?

    2. Does anyone in this forum have spare parts?

    3. Can I find some suitable replacement surface mount LEDs ( I think 3.5 V, 320 mA).

    Thanks.

There should be some kind of #'s on the strips that may help locate some replacements. Sometimes the same strips are used in other models.

I had luck on a different set by contacting a seller on ebay that had other parts for tv I was working on for sale. He had the strips I needed just not posted. Managed to get a handful for cheap.

Posting some pics of the strips may help also.

Attached are two pics of the main distribution panel and the number on a strip.
There are 5 strips and each strip has 9 LEDs in series.

Did you try contacting SHOPJIMMY to see what he has?

You may be able to pick up a set on ebay with a cracked screen. Then you could sell the extra parts to recover the money.

No luck finding these strips neither in eBay, nor in Shopjimmy. Even, I am not finding any cracked screen TVs in ebay with matching LED strips.

Is there a P/N on the led strips? Like the one on the connecting strip, the BN41 #.

Found this here. Says you can special order? Maybe call them and see. Although I don't know for certain that is right P/N for your tv. Need complete model #.

There is a number but I dont know it is part number. It is D2GE-320SC0-R3[12,12,27].

I tried searching using this number and it brings many russian and chinese pages showing the correct strip.

I have the same TV with the Same issue. I've tried replacing the PSU and replacing the main board without any luck. I'm too lazy to part it out but this could help you. I'm not sure how to open it up more to get the strips out and I don't want to ruin them in the process. PM if interested and maybe we can work something out.

Does this TV have a Backlight Inverter? I had read somewhere that the Inverter was also on the Power Supply unit? Does anyone know?

It does not have a separate backlight inverter. The main power supply board suppies a dc power for the LED backlights.

I have this exact same issue with the exact same TV. I have replaced the PS board and the main board and it Still has no backlight. My TV was purchased 1 year and 16 day before my issue started and samsung would do nothing but tell me a repair shop in my area or i could send it to them. I gave up and just purchased another TV

Can the LED strips be tested as a whole or must the LED buttons be checked individually?
Do you have any insight on why the entire LED backlight system goes dark when a single strip or module fails? Are all the strips fed in series?

Yes LED's are in series. Each led takes about 3v sometimes a little more volts DC. If one fails none will light up.

For the 32 in it is more likely to be ONE big string.
For example on this Samsung in the thread, it has one shorted LED, and one open LED.
