Sharp LCC4067UN Red Blinking Led

I am looking at a sharp LCC4067UN LCD tv. when you plug the tv in to the wall no lights or anything. in a few seconds the red light comes on and blinks about 1 per second. it is a continual blink that doesn't stop until you unplug the tv.

do you want to test it with a digital multimeter?

I just wonder if the standby was having trouble if the led would blink at all? I have a fluke meter that I can test with.

ok I have an update. I was reading in another post about holding down the input and vol - while plugging in the set to power. when I did this the tv came on both green lights are on and the backlight is on but only on for 2 seconds and then it shut down. so I tested the ps for voltages and all of them are there. including the 60v for backlight. so I am thinking it is either a inverter or lamp that I have a problem with. does anyone know a good test procedure to test inverter or lamps.

Here are the pictures of the inverter. I think it is strange that half of the Fet's are heatsinked and half are not.

Ok have another update. I was looking at yet another thread and now I am getting the TV to come up in a service mode. it is very difficult to read as the backlight is only on for about 2 seconds but with a flashlight I can make out some details.
I pressed the input button and the vol - at the same time and then plugged in the tv. Held the two buttons until the green power light and green opc light were on. then I could see the small box with the K in it on the left side of the screen. this is with my flashlight as the backlight is not on. then I press the ch + vol + at the same time and the screen now goes to a screen with many details. I noticed one line that said "Error no reset 5" I managed to use the input button to move down to this and then held the power button and it reset that number. The tv still won't turn on normal. so I am thinking maybe my next setup would be to purchase a inverter board to see if resolves the errors.

I tried to do a firmware update but the TV shuts down before it can do the update. I have noticed that when the tv does turn on the backlight for the few seconds that there appears to be several of the lamps that are not turning on. so I don't know if I should purchase an inverter board or if there is a way to test to see if it is the lamps that are bad.

Measure each transformer on the inverter board with your meter in the Ohms setting. They all should be within 3% or so. Also you could disassemble the LCD, then you can check the CCFLs visually for any burn spots.

so I have tested each transformer and they all test very close to each other. I am nervous to tear it down to the lamps. How long are CCFLs suppose to last?

Like any bulb they can just go regardless of time, Lifespans rarely compare to the actual life of a bulb, CCFL's can be tested with proper testers but unless you have one it will be down to viewing them

Ok last update.. I tested many places on the inverter board. I was getting the correct voltage but when the back light would come on I could see several lamps not turning on. I looked and found an inverter board for a great deal and thought I would try a new board just to see. I got the new board today and installed it. It fixed the tv. I have watched it for several hours and all the lights look good. Thanks for your help.
