VIZIO e701i-a3 LFTRNXAP1002583 No video No sound , Just Backlights

Hey guys I was poking around the forum for an answer and still dont have a clear answer as to what could be the cause the video and audio not to work on this Vizio Model # e701i-a3. Serial # LFTRNXAP1002583

My suspicions are either Main Board or T-CON .

What I've done so far...

Tested the power supply for power with meter and seems to be in good working condition.
No signs of bad Fuses
No signs of bad caps.
No signs of bad Diodes.
Tested each HDMI port on the Main Board for audio/video and nothing.
Unplugged one ribbon from each side of the T-con at a time and no change was seen.
Disconnected the ribbons going to the power buttons and to the IR sensor one at a time and vice versa and no change

I dont think the T-con would be responsible because I know the T-con isnt responsible for audio issues.

I've heard about the recall with the 70" Vizio's however the one I have doesn't fall under the ones recalled, however its almost doing the same thing as those other ones.
All in all, im suspecting a bad Main board.

Any input at all would be helpful

cant do a firmware update with no picture on the screen.

also i should mention the only button that seems to work is the power button

most likely a bad lcd panel. i just worked on one friday reolaced the t-con and main board. it turned out to be a bad panel. vizio had a recall on a lot of these. steve

ok, now I see why they would hesitate to include more models, since it basically means they would have to replace the tv, and we all know they want to get out of it.

i think in this case, jumping to the "bad panel" conclusion is premature, as a bad panel, just like the tcon, would not be able to cause any audio issues. verify that you truly cant change input's till you hear sound coming out of one of them, and then most likely it has to be bad motherboard. i wouldnt assume a bad panel until i knew i had a good motherboard and tcon and still was having the same problem.

I replaced motherboard and no change in symtoms : no pix, no audio, just backlight.
I can see where it could be t-con with no video but no audio also points to motherboard.
So does Vizio tvs have something different that t-con board is interconnected to mainboard circuit that if t-con board goes bad than audio is disconnected ?

You may want.to have a look here. Mine I have successfully made operational. Still running strong. It does require some modification to the panel as a "last resort " option. There is to date only one other person besides me that has done this operation with success on a sharp model tv. Same beast with the panel failure although different tv.

see other thread on this tv. Likely that the panel is taking out the tcon board.... actually a component on the tcon board which is shutting down part of the tv.
