Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok

    Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
    M:1.00/11107BLP
    D:?.??/????????
    O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

On the BCHDM-0678 - 25140678 - QPWBCHDM0678A0 board the chip that usually seems to be the problem, namely D808K013BPTP3 is not a BGA chip but is a common multi-pin IC normally soldered on the board.

The ADV7623 IC that takes care of receiving the HDMI inputs heats up a lot (but I deduce that it works since I have an HDMI video output).

From the service manual I read that the L and R inputs of Game; CBL / SAT; DVD / BD can be used as inputs to test the amplification part ("Multi ch in for AMP TEST"), consequently I tried to inject an audio signal from them, but once again I get nothing in output.

While if I inject an audio signal into the inputs of the amplification stage (i.e. SL_in; SR_in; SW_in; C_in; FL_in; FR_in) I get the audio output from the speakers, audio whose volume is not adjustable by the Onkyo knob but only by the adjustment of the device with which I inject it. (This is a symptom that the amplification stage is working more or less) (Excluding C_out which I get nothing).

Injecting it into the output pins of the IC R2A15218FP (i.e. SBL_out; SBR_out; SW_out; C_out; FL_out; FR_out) I get an output but the volume is very low.

On the capacitors downstream of the PCM1681 I detect between 2.1 and 2.4V dc (Between GND and +). While between gnd and the + pins of the capacitors C4071-70-72-77-74-73 upstream of the R2A15218FP I do not detect any voltage dc.

The problem of the absent audio output signal, in your opinion, is due to the corrupted DSP firmware? Or could it be due to the dead IC R2A15218FP? Since I get nothing by using the input channels declared as test, despite the IC being correctly powered as I detect +-7V.

I ask you what else I can check specifically, since it is the first time I put my hands on a receiver amplifier and I apologize if the measurements or tests provided are not suitable to solve the problem.

    Thanking you in advance
    Francesco
