problem with Sony KDL-40EX403

Hi guys i got a Sony KDL-40EX403 TV that has a fault.

when you power on TV you get red led on front and when i press the power button the LED goes green, not wierd i know but tv doesnt have any backlight and doesnt display a picture as i shined a bright light on it to see if i was getting any display to which i was not, pressing menu and volume etc made no image on screen.. i tried googling the model number to see if anyone had any similar faults but had no luck at all..

anyone else had an issue with this TV or had another tv with same problem ?

did you try a firmware update?, thats if you can find one on sonys inadequate web site.

step 3 after putting in USB is to follow on screen instructions but i wont see them ?

ok, my kdl-46s4100, updated when I powered set up, I just had steady green light, yours may be different.

tried just plugging in USB with the update file, steady green light but no picture or backlight.. im just wondering why there is no display or no backlight could it be a mainboard issue ?

try unplugging the bl-on plug from the main or power supply and see if the backlights pop on.

the way my model update worked, is tv off, plug in usb drive, power on, light green goes double amber for about 2 minutes, when it stops blinking turn off tv, take out usb.

turned tv off plugged in USB and switched TV on and just green light nothing happened

http://www.toms-service-manuals.com check there, put in sony and your model number, I'd check the training manual it's an 80% match.

manual says check your 3.3v and 12v, on power supply, see if they are correct.

Hello for this issue you are having you should really start a new thread and tell what your symptoms are. Does it power on? Any backlights?

ok I know this thread is a little out of date but I received another one of these with the same issue and would like to resolve it this time around. I cut the wire for BL_ON and switched tv on, made no difference.

Can we see the pictures of the whole backside of the TV so we can see all the boards?
