by double_DDHi all,
As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?
I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.
Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard... -
by madan1Hi everyone.
Recently scored a dead amp from a mackie srm1801 subwoofer and after fixing it, now I'm thinking about a home cinema/party subwoofer project.
Most likely I will use a 15" JBL woofer, which I already have and a diy box.
After reading the mackie user manual, I noticed that it has a 40hz HPF (labeled as "36Hz BUTTERWORTH HPF" in the SM) to protect the speaker from low frequencies. Indeed this seems to be good idea for the intended usage - professional music subwoofer, but bad for movies, where one would expect to "feel" the SUBwoofer....-

Hello,
first of all I want to apologize for my bad English, but I try to give my best.
Customer brought me a laptop, which is charging the battery (when the dc-jack is connected) but don't power up when the power-button was pressed down. Only the white LED lights up, and you can hear a short noise in same interval when power-button was pressed and hold for longer timer. The customer changed already battery and dc-power-adapter.
For this laptop the correct shematic is the service manual "Clevo NH50ER NH57ER NH50EPS NH57EPS - 6-71-NH5S0-D02 Schematic".... -

by CapLeakerI’ve had and got a few projects using quality CAT6 and CAT7 23awg solid copper, shielded, direct burial cable. Each time I use CAT7 connectors, most of them fail making good connections to the 4 wire pairs after crimping. I tied a couple of crimping tools, thinking my crimper is bad. Also used different CAT7 RJ45 connector manufacturers. Same thing. I kinda calculate 6 connectors to make one cable!
Get this: I use CAT5 or CAT6 connectors, no problem. Very rare I have a miss crimp with those. So what gives?!...
