Hi everyone.
Recently scored a dead amp from a mackie srm1801 subwoofer and after fixing it, now I'm thinking about a home cinema/party subwoofer project.
Most likely I will use a 15" JBL woofer, which I already have and a diy box.
After reading the mackie user manual, I noticed that it has a 40hz HPF (labeled as "36Hz BUTTERWORTH HPF" in the SM) to protect the speaker from low frequencies. Indeed this seems to be good idea for the intended usage - professional music subwoofer, but bad for movies, where one would expect to "feel" the SUBwoofer. Since I do not really care about the wellness of the speaker, and am expecting an earthquake from that setup, I would like to mod that HPF filter to something lower.
I tried searching for BUTTERWORTH filter calculator, but with no success. All references that I found are for books, to which I do not have access.
Of course bypassing the filter is always an option, but if possible I prefer to mod it.
