I see at your first startpost after opening of the TV, that the connector on the T-con (from the cable between mainboard and T-con) is not seated correctly. Such a thing could just give you the '5-blink T-con' Error from the start.

Was that picture taken when you first opened the TV?

I think I have removed and reseated the Cable between the mainboard and the T-con but when I get home tonight I will double check this again.

I have tested several fuses on the main board and they are all testing good. where should I test?

I fixed a kdl-46hx820 same error code, what I did was to unplug the cable fron main board to t-con, press the power button, it could turn on, then power off, connect back the cable, tv worked again.
This is not a way to fix tv, but it's simple and worth a try.

I will try that as well and see what happens.

Ok tonight I came home and disconnected the cable between the T-con and main board. I plugged in the TV and the standby light came on. I then pressed the power button and the standby light went out. I pressed the power button again and it went green for half a second and then red 5 blinks pause red 5 blinks over and over.

heres a question, does both of your power supply boards give you the 10.8 volts where you should have 12 volts?

I will test both of them when I get home tonight just to double check. I have purchased both power boards and tested with them and I get the same results. I have a new main board coming.

Re: Sony KDL-55HX820 5 red blinks

ok so this tv has a vacation switch. so when I plug in the TV and then turn on the vacation switch while having my meter connected to the power supplies 12v I get 12.7 volts for about a second and then it drops to 10.7. This is while the tv is in standby so before I hit the power on. Then when I hit the power on button the 10.7 jumps back up to 12.7 for 1 second and then drops to 0. this is when the TV starts to blink for 5 times.

If I remember well, there it should be a shorted special VDO near the PS connector.
After replacing that, I had to replace the mainboard too. Wrong voltage, damaged something on the mainboard.

are you talking on the power supply board or on the main board? do you know what the part should look like?

On mine(different model though-55EX720), it was on the power supply. It was a 5 pin voltage regulator.

so the last board that the service manual suspects is a very small board. the HLT2 board or other words the IR board. part numbers 1-732-388-11 or 1-883-757-11. I have looked for this board and don't know if I will find one. If I can find one I will purchase and install and see if that resolves anything.

Make sure the ribbon cable going from the main board to tcon is OK where the plastic clip holds it to the main board. I have seen the ribbon cable get pulled from the plastic retainer clip before and caused damage to the cable.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Well this one is going to go. I have replaced all of the power supply and main board. tested voltages and still no go. so I am sending this one packing.

Hey every one did we ever find a cure for this annoying 5 blinks issue?! I got mine from a pal and he said he changed main, and PS, and still got nothing better as results. I was thinking tcon board seeing how he never replaced that one. But who is to say he didn't get a bad main or ps off line. So anything helps thank you guys!

Sony KD-75XF9005 grey Picture but Sound. TCON or panel?
                                  by iglitare
                                  Hi,

i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted...

                                  Sony KD-55X9000F TCON Issue
                                  by thelankanguy
The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...

Sony XBR-75X940E intermittent 6 blinks error code
                                  by GoodCapDude
Hi everyone. First post on Badcaps!

I am trying to fix a Sony 940E from 2017 that either starts normally (and works perfectly until turned off) or goes straight to the 6 blinks error code without showing anything on the screen. It is frustrating to know that it can still work perfectly but is barely usable because of the difficulty starting it up. I am willing to try to short the BL_ERR but I would like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone have a view on this? Thanks a lot....

                                  Hi,

I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
                                  It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

                                  Thanks in advance!...

                                  Sony XBR-65X850D 2 Red Blinks
                                  by Nicktronic
                                  Hi all,

I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?

Any Sony experts out there that can help??...
