Should be fine, I do that kind of thing all the time, although it's better if you have alligator clip leads to connect to the paperclip etc, less chance of slipping etc.

Hope this gets to whoever....I have the same model number Vizio, and mine won't turn on...The amber licht at bottom center of frame will go from amber to white, then then the large V on the screen flickers on, then immediately off...???

You might as well start a new thread and upload good clear pictures of the boards and the whole back side of the TV. I hope you can at least know how to use the meter.

Re: Vizio E552VLE Not Turning On

hey everyone, I've got this PS with a totally different issue.
I tried to post a new thread on this but it wouldn't let.
anywho, here's the issue i have..with the PS unhooked from the rest of the set
I've got 5Vstby, but when i jump from there to the PS_ON the 12v,24v and the 18V supply lines quickly jump up to around there normal voltage range, and then drop to zero gradually..like caps draining off.
I'm wondering if IC900 is the problem SG6742MR
anyone have any idea's i've checked and rechecked every part on this PS and can't find a single part shorted or open
