Samsung UN55C6400RFXZA Strobing flickering lines of dots on the display

I am posting this for others to see since there is not any information on this unit here.

I got this 55" for free the TV works but the display has dotted lines strobbing while the picture is displayed. They are really apparent on black scenes and not so much on brighter scenes.

These dotted lines do not bleed or have the melting effect/ghosting.


I am 90% sure this is a bad panel, I even broke it down to the tab bond level and applied pressure to them and this did not change how they acted.

5% t-con 5% mainboard. Bummer too this was actually a nice panel for the time.

Anyway here are some photos for future reference for folks who might encounter this problem.

T-con failure - Had a UE40C6510 with an extremely similar fault today... (Although mine had nothing on the scnreen but the dots /lines where strobing on and off).

T-con in my tv is a S120APM4C4LV0.4 too!

Worth trying out

You can access service menu and select test pattern options from it to confirm whether main board, t-con or panel are at fault. Given fault image, highly doubt panel is bad.

I tried to access the get patterns in the SM and they wouldn't stay running it would fault back to the menu to access them.

Maybe I far fingered the button, I will try again when I get back into town.

So this is what I got, seems if I do READ_POST_PATT_SEL the test patterns are fine. The PRE_PATT_SEL the test patterns are affected with strobbing dots ect.

Nothing shows up on the screen for those. I had a hdmi signal playing in the background should I have not done that?

Before DDR 0/15 patterns displayed.
After DDR 0/8 patterns displayed.

You should get patterns. In my mind it is pointing to T-con fault.

No patterns without a signal either, logic patterns don't show up as well.

What does t-con USB failure mean?

(not sure why these are showing up side ways when they are loaded up and displayed in the upload window normal.)

Will any S120APM4C4LV0.4 t-con work I see quite a few for various panel sizes but the S120APM4C4LV0.4 is the same for this model and others as well.

Thought so, just wanted to make sure, I know some T-cons actually have to match certain part numbers for example like LG ect.

So I was doing a little searching and it looks like the S120APM4C4LV0.4 3464E0 (bar code number) is the one for this panel.

The one I ordered S120APM4C4LV0.4 3334J0.

I will get it today so we shall see if it works :P

T-con did not fix the flickering dots. Test more later but I assume it's a mainboard issue or panel.

I also noticed that the Service menu under shop options has 3D options and 2 of them are turned on. I have not messed with them yet as I ran out of time last night.

So I am at a loss what it would be, the test patterns tested the exact same as the previous T-con so its got to be the mainboard at this point or panel?

Gonna try a different mainboard, BN94-03404K (its for a 46") should be able to adjust panel type ect.
