Sharp LC-32D59U, won't turn on

I'm trying to troubleshoot my father's Sharp for him. A while back it wouldn't turn on. The red light indicating standby (I think) was lit but neither the remote or physical power button would turn it on.

After unplugging/replugging it to attempt a power cycle the red light went out and wouldn't come back on and the TV was still unresponsive.

I tried 2 other power cables and other outlets.

So basically I'm at the stage now where I've opened it up but I'm not sure what I'm doing.

Based on some other threads I've seen I guess the best thing would be for me to upload pics of the back and get some help on where to test for issues?

I'm a little unfamiliar with the multimeter, in terms of what setting to use. Basically I need someone to hold my hand through the next part of the process.

This is not going to be easy. TV troubleshooting can be complex and you
really need a digital meter for accurate testing.
Most people start with Pcs, laptops or monitors and progress to Tvs.
Do you have no electronics experience at all, do you know what the components are called and what they might look like?
One of our main concerns is that voltages can be 2000- 3000 vdc so there is a serious safety issue.
Do you have soldering equipment?

You also need to take the cover off the Main/Logic Board and post picture
of it

I know very little about TVs but can give you a first test - NO POWER

You will need to take the power board off and do the test on the back.
In your picture just above where the mains lead connects there are 4 rectangular red boxes. These are fuses.
To test them select ohms on your meter and test across each fuse.

Have you read the other threads on this model, that might be a start. There are 4 fuses on the ac input are they ok?

I've fixed one of these myself. It was a main board failure. So, I'm guessing if the power supply is outputting the standby voltage and you have no standby light, then it's going to the main. These are very hard to find. Especially the one with the T-con built in to the main like you have. I lucked out and bought an entire set of boards from a salvage place untested for $24 and got a good main. Tried two others previously for around $75 and they were both bad and had to return.
