See post 19 I just updated. Look at the bottom side of the board.

Wow blonde moment. Haha. Ok so I tested the marked pins and it gets 12v and 5v and 5v standby and bl on 0v and ps on has 4.52v

These tv's are known for master and slave inverter boards going bad. Do you think this could cause an issue like this. The person I bought it from said over time it would take longer and longer to turn on and eventually stopped working which would sound like a cap

"ps on has 4.52v" OK, so the PS_ON does not toggle HIGH (>2VDC = ON and LOW (<1VDC = OFF) when power switch is activated? If that is the case, the problem is in the main board.

"These tv's are known for master and slave inverter boards going bad" That is correct. So if you fix or replace the main board, you will still have to deal with inverters going bad later on. If you do have 24VDC and the BL_ON signals but no backlights, then you may also have inverter problem also. I am not crazy about Westinghouse.

Believe me I don't like them either. Well I don't have bl on so it looks like a main board is what I will need. I don't know if its gonna be possible to trouble shoot that at component level. I'm wondering if it's the processor that's bad sending that signal out.

Ok so if the tv is on technically since the ps on is getting voltage and all. Why would that fuse on the power board not be getting any voltage?

I cannot see the fuses on the main board. To troubleshoot down to component level will not be easy, you can try simple test on the voltage regulators (3-pin).

Turns out it was the cap stated in the other thread. Swapped it out with same cap from another board and fired right up. Only thing is right when u plug the tv in it turns itself on by itself. I heard that's usually a sign of something wrong with the main board. But it turns on and off just fine after that

I would run it for about a week to see if it always comes on OK and no other problems, need to make sure you will not have inverter boards problem also.

Are you turning off the TV with the power button or just pulling out the power cord while its on?
If you pull out the power cord while its on, most tvs will automatically turn back on as soon as its plugged in. Shouldn't happen if you turn off the tv first.

                                          Hello guys

Taking a look at some KNX domotic modules that were toasted due to some kind of electrical failure, I found out 2 weird looking resistors.

Seem to me like some kind of fuse resistor?
After diggin a bit seems like a fuse wirewound resistor wafer or whatever that is

They are very toasted but I think the 5 band colours are RED GOLD BLACK ORANGE ORANGE or the opposite, not sure which is the first band.
The red band is larger than the 4 others, but I dont have much experience with these components.

                                          Also one of the orange...

Replacing resistor fuse in Sony DV charger
                                          by corrize
Hello, I have 2 old chargers for Sony DV, and I found the same resistor fuse dead. Fuse is a crossing component : 0,47 Ohms (0,125W deduced because the lenght is 3mm). But I can’t find the same for buy.
So, I want to replace by another like 0 Ohms, 1 Ohms 0,125W,

It is the same please ? I guess it’s the same, the only change should be the time to burn ? Thanks...

Hello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
                                          The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping...

Can a resistor lose resistance after hot air?

I am curious if a 0402 resistor could go from 43 ohm to 0. In electronics class and my experience a resistor can degrade and gain resistance all the way up to not being able to conduct at all. I have never heard of a resistor decreasing in resistance and becoming 0 ohm or a dead short… that's not the direction they fail… or so I thought.

I was attempting to remove a wson8 chip on an iMac motherboard and it required a lot of heat, on one side of the chip were 3 0402 resistors that were very close. I popped the chip out unintentionally out of the tweezers and sent those resistors...

BN44-00517C dead - blown cap, resistor and fuse

                                          Hi All,
I have a UE32ES6540 which is dead, customer reported a pop and a puff of smoke. PSU is BN44-00517C and has blown 221k 1KV cap, next to this a blown resistor RM811. Board mains fuse is blown.
Has anyone seen this problem and will changing the cap, resistor and fuse likely fix it? One more ask, can anyone give me a 2nd opinion of this resistor rating of RM811? I think it's 0.24 Ohms but would like a 2nd opinion! See attached pic.

                                          Thanks!
                                          Bob...
