Sharp LC-32D59U does nothing after loss of power due to storm

So I'm assuming after a recent storm and hearing a loud pop as we lost power for 8 hours I'm guessing it had a good surge go through it. My internet modem and router and also my CCTV DVR all no longer work, and we're on same power strip. Which I don't think the surge protector was any good on anymore.
Anyways it does not turn on or do anything anymore. I looked at all the boards and nothing looks melted or burnt or anything. The fuses look like they could of blown I'm not very good with this electrical stuff but my boyfriend is. And I just need help on how to figure out what's wrong with it and how to go about it

EWWWW...... I hate these situations. Lightning strikes are hard to diagnose and fix - Assuming that's what it was. Electricity has a mind of it's own once it gets high enough. It still follows the basic principles however, it will overpower the common designs that we create to channel the electron flow. Those power strips hardly catch the surge that a storm can create. They wont shut down fast enough. The only way to truly protect equipment from lightning strikes is to unplug.

You can check the internal fuses. If you are able to find something blown and replace it and get one of the things working, great. My only concern is that sometimes other components are stressed toward their tolerances that the unit may not last long anyway before something else dies. Replace all with craigslist finds - much cheaper and less frustrating. - Just my opinion.

It may have blown the 4 fuses, There are 4 mov's that that may have protected the power supply, they will need to be checked also. see this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=37834

How about showing us good clear pictures of the boards?

What inputs were you using with the tv (HDMI, etc)? Hopefully the surge didn't go though the ports and fry the main board. I've had a couple of TVs with fried main boards, (Vizios and some Panasonics) following with a fried cable box that doesn't work anymore.

Whenever there's a storm now, I tend to unplugged the main tv I use from any power just as a safety precaution =).

I will get pictures up tonight. And I think fuses are blown. I had a VGA cord hooked up to tv that was for my DVR for my camera, my ps3 hooked up through hdmi cord.mi believe the tv was off at the time of the lighting strike but there was loud popping noise and we didn't have power for The entire night after that

For inquiring minds, you unplug your tv and anything connected to it correct? Unplugging just the tv would just make the tv more prone to damage if a device connected to it takes a hit. Considering you have removed the tv's earth ground.

I know no UPS or surge bad will protect from the massive serge a direct lightning hit will produce, but i dont run any TV with out a UPS. A good UPS will at least ensure any over or under voltage is not hitting the tv, with in moderation of course.

I usually unplug any inputs on it, especially the HDMI inputs (Just had a storm here today too). I'm okay with leaving the power connected. I would rather repair a struck power supply than deal with a fried main board (which usually shorts the main processor and would require a new replacement afterwards...) Some Sony panels have an energy saving switch that disconnects the AC power to save energy.

Sharp LC70LE755U - Intermittent backlight flickering and loss of sound.
                    by TheForgottenKing
Hello everyone, first time posting here so I hope I'm doing everything right.

I just came into possession of a Sharp Aquos LC70LE755U. It was free for me, so with the stand and power cable I only have $30 in this. As such, I'm trying to repair it for cheap.

It works most of the time perfectly, except for an issue with what I think is the power supply. After anywhere from 10-30 minutes of usage, the screen backlight will flicker briefly, and the sound will completely stop working. The sound doesn't start working until I unplug the TV, wait a few seconds, and plug it...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                    by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Sharp Aquos Lc-80LE757U flashing Sharp on screen when plugged in
                    by sefoster
I have a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE757U that randomly made a loud popping noise when when watching TV one day. We found that the fuse blew and the thermistor. We ended up replacing the entire power supply board and have also replaced the TCON board. Now as soon as I plug the TV in it lights up and has the Sharp logo flashing on and off of the screen. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the TCON board to the main board I get the 2 long 5 short error code. Any ideas on where to go from here? We've tried resetting it but nothing has worked. If we plug it in and let it cycle through the flashing of the Sharp...

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I like to tinker with Sony electronics, I have been lucky trouble shooting sony stuff, But I can't find much info on this Sharp TV.

The problem; plug to power>white led power indicator light is on>it turns on to the red Sharp logo>
then the android logo is displayed, lit fine then the android logo brightness varies, then lit normal, then the tv restarts and does the same startup logos over and over for 5 times then it turns off and the power indicator light flashes the trouble code 3 long blinks plus 3 short blinks .

                    does...

                    by gavenb
                    Hi folks!
I have a LC-80LE661U that had some interesting issues.
Initially, it would come on and show the sharp logo and would show normal static before shutting off.

I started troubleshooting by disconnecting the led lighting strips and turning it on. It would do the same thing - come on, show the sharp logo and shut off. After reading, it was suggested to replace the main board. That was replaced and the same symptoms resulted. After this and some reading, the parts cannon got loaded up. I replaced the power board, same issue. Replaced the Tcon board and now it...
