Sharp LC-37SB24U 32 - Powers Off if Control Buttons Are Pressed on TV

The caps look good... The tv shuts off if I press any of the buttons located on top of the tv. If I use remote it will not turn off. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like a faulty touch panel on top of TV. Advise replacement.

Disconnect the cable that goes to the push button assembly and see if the remote can control all the functions

I didn't word it correctly. I meant that when using the remote it works great. It's just when pressing any of the buttons on the tv is where it turns off. I saw Shop Jimmy has new keyboard controllers for $9.33

The tv owner also mentioned that on some channels... usually the lower ones.. will not have volume.

OK then, you may have bad switch assembly then.

Are you not talking about the switch assembly on the top RIGHT of the TV?

You may be able to dis-assemble and clean the contacts.

Yes... It's on the top right. It's the same thing as the keyboard assembly right?

Great... I will take it out & use alcohol to clean contacts.

Do I just spray some contact cleaner where the contacts are located & press buttons several times to clean this?

post a foto of the button panel - some types of button are sealed.
