Burinng out cables on Baird PR32BAIRD

ok guys got this TV from a friend and when i plugged it in i got no backlight whatsoever, decided to pop back off tv and quick check of bulging caps etc however i noticed that the cable leading from PSU to Inverter was severely damaged, what could be causing this issue ?

This is a case of bad connectors overheating. If the traces are ok on the board then just pull the connectors and use wires with no connectors. Replace the caps when you are at it because replacing them after is a real bugger.

        probably not,
he means it will be a lot simpler to change them now,
than in a year when you cant seperate the boards!

problem with using another cable is that the connector is probably also damaged - and so it will burn the new cable.

when you have a burned connector - you should replace both parts.

echoing what stj says, the new cable will burn in the year that it takes the caps to fail, but that time it might take the traces with it.....
it will be a lot simpler to change the caps now than in a year when you can't separate the boards, yes.
