    Vizio E470VL, no picture

I have a Vizio E470VL that displays no picture. The backlight turns on, sound comes on, but there is no visible picture. No Menu's, volume, input, just a nice backlight black screen.

I am unsure what caused this issue as it was handed down to me and I thought it would be a quick repair.

I searched all over google through forums and concluded it was the main board I had to replace. So i bought one from ebay and swapped the part. Exact same issue. So I thought maybe something from the power board is malfunctioning.

Returned the first main board and bought a power board. Swapped the power board, same issue. I thought maybe I got a bad part from ebay the first time since everything kept pushing me to conclude it was a main board issue.

Returned the power board and got a new main board from a different seller on ebay. Swapped the board, same issue... I am returning the new board and keeping my old board since i noticed the same issue.

I have concluded my boards are good, and the issue lies else where. I believe the issue has to be either the ribbo inen cable, or the lcd screen.

My question is am I missing something between the board and the lcd screen? I see the ribbon cables connect to the top of the lcd panel and see two small boards. Not sure what they are or do. It is also my understanding that this tv has the tconn integrated to the mainboard.

I am also unsure what happens when an LCD screen goes bad. Hope I was through in explaining my issue.

    Thanks

Check the surface mounted fuse on the T-CON board to see if it has 12V (or 5V depends on the LCD panel) on both ends of the fuse, this board is under the metal shield. Pictures of the back of the TV will help. Your panel may have integrated T-CON board type.

Hmm, assuming that the two new main boards are good and there is no tcon board for this set the last thing left would be the panel itself I'm afraid...

I tried some other combinations and now I cant get the backlight to come on. Tried the flash light test and did not notice a picture either.

amdmadcap1, try to post good clear pics. of each board and one of how they are all connected, maybe start by testing expected voltages on power supply board, there should be a label by the connectors, as always be careful working with power supply, HIGH VOLTAGE, on primary side can be deadly.

That means you have bad panel, the TFT drivers or MLCC shorted out.

                        Re: Vizio E470VL, no picture

i have a similar issue with vizio vo47l-fhdtv10a i googled my problem, and followed a few suggestions. i did the flashlight test and did see images, which i was told means one or both of my inverters were bad. i just received the parts today( by the way i ordered them from shopjimmy.com i paid $44.00 including shipping, for both master and slave) installed first the master and when that did not resolve the no pic issue i added the slave, same problem i can see images with flashlight, but no pic.
could it be a fuse or the back-light itself and if it is the back-light would that be a relatively easy fix?

Do you have 24VDC from the power supply board feeding the inverter boards?

                            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                            Assuming...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                            Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                            First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

                            by Asraf Atb
                            Hi everyone,

Im looking for some advice regarding my Samsung UE55MU8000 TV with main board model BN94-11606C. The TV suddenly stopped turning on and now shows no signs of life at all not even the standby light at the bottom.

Initially, I suspected an issue with the PSU, so I took it to a repair center. They tested it and confirmed that the PSU works perfectly, even on other TVs. Based on that, I started investigating the main board.

I disconnected the main board from the PSU, and the backlight turned on, which seems to confirm the main board is the issue....
