First we need to figure out if the PSU is working - if the voltages are low or if some are missing it could cause a loss of backlight.

i checked in vdc mode . left top 10 pin conn to vid board 53.7 53.5 53.6 53.553.6 41.2 37.9 37.937.8 37.8 9pin conn right top to main board 47.5 47.6 53.5 41.0 39.7 37.6 37.6 39.9 37.8 5 pinn conn bottom left 39.8 39.8 39.0 39.8 39.7 thats all on power board

Sorry, but none of those readings make sense, you are either checking it wrong or your meter is not working.

PLEASE check a fresh AA battery so we can see if your meter is working.

changed power cord now backlight comes on for two seconds. if you could tell me what readings should be and also where to hook up black probe on board i could give you right readings .i am sorry for miscommunication on my part i am trying to learn

Tell us first as to where you put the Black probe of the meter? How about testing the battery voltage as Tom has suggested?

yes i checked with battery. negative side of large cap 120 uf 450v

You should use the CHASSIS as your ground, i.e. metal shielding. Not the negative of the capacitor.
