Preview of an e-book I'm working on

I've been working on this on-and-off for the past few months. Not sure if there's much interest in it.

When it is finished, it'll be free to download, but I'm considering selling a physical version of it with better diagrams and more detail in the future. Might do a kickstarter for it (£15 for a paperback version, probably.)

Currently 32 or so pages, targetting about 100 for the final version. It's incomplete, unfinished and not completely edited.

    Comments appreciated.

Thank you Tom. Very good IMO. Very detailed and answers a lot of questions. Learned some good info in those 32 pages. Can't wait to see it when it's done. I've been looking for guides/books like this for awhile with no luck really. Thanks!

Gave it a quick glance. You're writing style is entertaining, and it is full of interesting information.

      Going to read further...
"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

Great info, I'm a newbie to lcd/tv repair and gained some knowledge from these 32 pages. Looking forward to seeing the rest. Thanks

Great book. I am a beginner looking for knowledge. I have been repairing tvs for about 5 months starting on my own from knowing nothing.. and I have come along way. Today I replaced bulbs in a 32 sharp and was working on changing a lcd panel in a 32 insignia... thanks for the info. Keep it up

That's really understandable, well-written, and helpful! Hopefully you can continue it.

I think it's cool you intend to give it away for free but you could sell it on Amazon like as an e-book to make some money too!

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to finish LCD & LED and release that before working on the Plasma section.

In the section called "digital multimeter usage", you provide a link to

                          http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_1/chpt_8/8.html

While it is well written, I don't think the target audience (likely your first time DIYer) will find it useful.

The above doesn't have any practical examples and 99.99% of the DIYers will not have an analog meter.

This youtube video, less than 5 minutes, which I have referenced for others is probably better suited for the DIY.

                          Alternatively, another tutorial might be

PS. I haven't checked any of the technical content as you know more about more than I, but I can give feedback on layout, ease of use, missing content, diagrams, etc.

                            Thanks.

To be honest, I do expect someone to have use a DMM before trying to repair, as the book is more intended for people who do this more than once rather than one-offs.

I'll probably include all three -- could consider writing my own at some point, but drawing nice digital meter diagrams is hard.
