ok, i have to admit myself being a little bit stupid.
the "service_mode jumper" problem i was able to solve myself .. replacing the CMOS-Battery..
but what is left are the two problems with the TPM-Modul missing alert in all Bios Versions greater than 1.4 and the CPU-fan spinning up at full speed as soon as the machine is fully shut down.
also i forgot to mention that the fan and the PSU was already exchanged for test with known good ones. both good units result in the same behavior of the fan.
also the perboot diagnostics are testing the fan-behavior audible...

Dell Optiplex 5050 SFF - strange behavior and service_mode jumper not working anymore
Hello,
i have many 5050sff. all of them, and how i experienced over many years for all about 250 DELLs goin through my hands, are fully flashable and can be serviced in any way when the service_mode jumper is set.
Never ever i experienced problems with that.
Now i have one 5050sff machine, where this jumper isnt working at all.
I do not get the normal messge that the jumper is set when booting and a short test with FPT just confirms this. Everything is locked -->> EVEN for reading !?
The history of the machine is that i used it in my office...

This chip is shure supported by the RT-809 Programmers. I programmed it with this many times.
It seems to be not 100% supported bei the cheap 341-Programmers even with the 3.3V setup. with those programmers i had only problems with this chip.
And please check the pinout ! some "standard" 16 to 8 pin adapters delivered with the programmers just not work.
i found a post on winraid/levelone which was very helpful.
here the mapping 16 to 8 that finally worked for me and those macronix chips.

DELL Optiplex 5070 SFF - schematics and boardview request
Hello,
after seraching a long time i not can find a schematic or boardview for the DELL Optiplex 5070 SFF. gen 8/9 CPU
The numbers on the mainboard i found and searched for are:
Dell P/N
CN-0YJMC0-FCW00-04T-00QR-A02 (white sticker)
further i found
E93839 and BN0628 (printed on the board)
But those two seem to be a kind of general numbers.
Because i have´this E93839 on many boards here from the SFF 30xx/50xx/70xx series and they are all really technical very different boards, showing the same E93839
The BN.. number...

Hello to this new world here.
i am Michael I am german engineer.
57 years old now still with a great passion for hacking, modding and experimenting the possibilities of every computer i get in my fingers since i am 16..
My education was mostly in the electronic sector. Due to this i am bound to the hardware sector of my mentioned topics above.
Over the years and my work in a compiter company, i started focusing to DELL machnes and their known "specialities".
While configuring and later also (try) repairing them, often i had to find out that they are unnecessarily...Last edited by MMH3; 03-14-2025, 09:52 PM.
