This was only possible because of you guys contributing to the thread with your wealth of experience.
I'd like to thank every single one of you guys who chimed in. This is a truly awesome forum and community. I'm amazed how some of you guys can look at some lowish resolution JPEG pics of the boards and diagnose whats going on.

Update :
While I was waiting for a new set of thinner probes for my DM I decided to look at the back of the power supply board (see pic attached). As suggested by some of you guys earlier on I resoldered all the areas outlined in red. So far the monitor has been running for 4 hours without going into shutdown. Will run a longer test tomorrow and update if this has indeed solved the issue.

I am picking up a thinner set of probes tomorrow and will post all the voltages in on state and shutdown state. And put all of the info together in one post to prevent the thread getting too bloated and confusing....Leave a comment:

Can remove the Blackmagic output box and feed the monitor directly from a laptop via HDMI at different resolutions and report back the findings.

Still in shutdown backlight is glowing non of the inputs are selectable until I power cycle by pulling the mains cable.Leave a comment:

Ok this is strange the monitor is still in shutdown as in no Green status light on the front panel or input indicator lights but I can see the backlight is on. This is new behaviour. prior to this if the green power light was off the backlight would also be off...Leave a comment:

The monitor has now gone into shutdown these are the readings while in shut down on the pins marked in the previous picture from top to bottom
1 - 2.993
2 - 3.428
3 - 3.427
4 - 0
5 - 0
6 - 12.14
7 -12.16

unsure where I need to probe to get this second set of voltages is I think I can see the second set but they are right under the first set and my DM probe would touch the first column of pins while trying to read can I take the reading from the area marked in red on pic attached...Leave a comment:

Ah Found CN801 on the inverter board here are the voltages while power is on:
LCD_ON - 2.992
3.3V - 3.428
3.3V - 3.428
GND - 0
GND - 0
12V - 12.14
12V -12.4

I am assuming you mean CN701 Budm?
here are the voltages when the power is on:

No arcing or ozone smell just a sudden shutdown.

Pls explain a little further do you mean trying the sdi and composite inputs instead of the hdmi? I am feeding the monitor with a compliant HDMI signal via a Blackmagic Mini Moniter Ultra via thunderbolt to HDMI 1080p at 50hz...Leave a comment:

Complete shutdown. No backlight and front green status light turns off. Can only cycle power back on by removing mains cable.
May need some help in checking the voltages in a safe manner. I'm quite a novice at testing live voltages. For example using the correct grounds....Leave a comment:
