Actually any smart tv that isnt hooked to internet is dumb tv, you can disable or delete some if not all apps they come with easily, so as long as not online no problem if thats what someone wants. Bonus side effect is the eMMC will last much longer since it doesnt have to work so hard.

Yes if you have a satellite device or cable but what about if you want to get free tv signal what do you do for this

The other issue is that with a monitor you are limited to the size of the screen as well because I think that the largest screen size that I have seen 32” inches what if you want a 65” monitor then what do you do

From this post I do not think there is a way to take a tv set that is made now and make it a dumb tv set is there because I would like to have a big screen for my shed but if it needs to be hooked up to the internet this going to be an issue for me because I do not want my battery testing machine to have any ACCESS to the internet what so EVER because of security reasons for the version of Windows operating system that I am using because I do not want to risk of being hacked and some one causing mayhem to my battery testing machine and causing my shed or house to go up in flames you might think that I am paranoid no but I know that it possible and I do not need someone if they are seeing if you could be done I do not need to be asked for this issue when I know how to avoid it in the first place

Because I have had the battery testing machine on one of my 65” tvs for a little while but would not leave it on for days on end but after thinking about the fact that the tv set has access to internet was not a comfortable place to be and after a few months of doing this I stopped doing it this way and went to monitor instead

I did a quick google search and the biggest monitor that you can get is a 39” inch screen but you are going to have to pay for this size screen

There wasn't much that could have happened to the TV. I mean it ran for a bit and did an update when I left. 10 mins later I come back to this. The chances were good for a corrupt main board. The real problem is to find the right flash for this TV. Never found one, but diah came up with a Google flash and this didn't work on my board.

I put my 2 cents in at posts 44 and 45, can't speak on monitors, pretty much use tvs for all my monitors.

Contemplating throwing my big screen out the door, seems like they forgot how to make a decent movie as of late, SO many clunkers, "Poor Things" wasn't too bad tho.

And here I go with my measly 65" TV that cost me 66 bucks. I guess I am doing something wrong. lol

Took 4 weeks to get a new board from the southern States to me. All in all I guess 6 weeks from when I started. But it cost me CAD$ 35, plus another CAD$ 31 = CAD$ 66 for the whole smear. Perfect!

Thanks to everyone contributing! Well, this is my newest and biggest TV now. Never had a TV that big.
Before I forget it: the 55" and 65" TCL uses the same main board and I haven't to do anything to make the 55" main board to the 65" screen.

the file i give to you at post 101 factory_update_param.aml change it by add the file name you have in .img format
    for example

    --wipe_data
    --wipe_cache
    --wipe_media
    --update_package=/sdcard/v999.img

    or
you can download from the link i gave before zip file and let the ,aml format in this way

    --wipe_data
    --wipe_cache
    --wipe_media
    --update_package=/sdcard/updatw.zip

use the same way you did at post 104

Nope... no go for me that way. I think the only way to do something maybe is over that factory programming port on the main PCB.
