    Samsung LN52B750U1FXZA - Backlight Issue

    Hello All!

So here is the issue I am having. When everything is plugged in as normal, the TV turns on and I get a quick flash of the backlight. After that the backlight never turns back on but the rest of the TV works fine. If I pull the PWM pin from the cable between the main board and power board the backlight turns on and the tv works "normally". If it is plugged in I get nothing. I did do a factory reset but that didn't solve my issue. When everything is plugged in normally I get .6v at start up and continues rise over about 10 seconds. (~.6v then ~.8v then ~1.8v then settles on 3.3v). I feel like the voltage is correct (though I don't actually know). My guess is that the power supply isn't "reading" the varying voltage correctly and shutting the backlights off but that's just a guess. Thanks!

We need straight shot pictures of the whole board and measurements on the connectors. Pay attention to BLon, PWM / DIM signals.
Try to disconnect the main board from the PSU and plug the TV into power mains. It should turn on. If it doesn't take 1k resistors and jump PSon and BLon to STBy. See what that does.
There isn't any clicking or something going on when everything is hooked up like it is supposed to?

Backlight turns on when PSU is plugged in to mains but not connected to the main board.

Voltage measurements on the connector between PSU and main board.
        1: .894v
        3: 5.2v
        5: 0v
        7: 12.65v
        9: 0
        11: 0
        13: 5.1v
        15: 5.1v
        17: 0v
        19: 12.1v
        21: 12.1v
        23: 5.1v (Blon/Inv on/off)
        25: 3.3v (PWM)
        27: -.031v
        29: -.031v

Yes, everything works as normal when it is hooked up the way it is supposed to except for the backlight (only get a quick flash).

There is something wrong with pin 27 DET 5V (detect) for the backlights. You got zilch and there should be 5V. Are all CCFL’s ok?

Guess I still don't or forgot what exactly the DET_5V is suppose to be, ran across this but don't know if he is correct, he states it isn't suppose to be there, he says/thinks it only has 5v there if the inverter is broken, I had one with the det-5v missing a long while back but completely forgot what happened with it but it did always seem like it SHOULD be there on properly working tvs: https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/...missing+5V_DET

Then here in post 12 it says there's probably a fault in the inverter section and that's why there's no det_5v, so I guess the guy in the ifixit thread had it backwards: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...roubleshooting

When I pull the PWM pin from the connector and turn the TV on I get 5.2v on Pin 27. Here are two pictures of the screen with the backlight lit up. I guess one could be starting to fail but not showing outwards symptoms yet.Click image for larger version

Thanks for the links! I'll take a look into both of them a bit.

Thomson 50UD6306 (TCL) Backlight Issue, starts then stops, led changed
                    by Cornito
                    Hello Team,

I'm back with another backlight issue that I thought was simple, but it turned out to be more complex than expected.

Let me provide a brief history: The TV was working well, then one day, the backlight started and shut down. I thought I had an LED issue leading to this behavior, so I replaced the LEDs with brand new ones. However, the issue remains the same.

Next, I replaced the electrolytic capacitors attached to the LED power supply, but the results were the same. I then replaced the driver, a OB3365RP, and did it twice due to the same result....

                    Samsung UE55JS9000 backlight issue
                    by totof
                    Hello.
I'm sharing with those in the know a problem I'm having with my Samsung UE55JS9000T TV, which has a backlight fault with halos of light on the sides (see my photos). This is a model with LED strip backlighting on the sides.
I took the TV apart to remove the panel and noticed that the "yellowish" film on the Plexiglas light diffusion plate was stuck to the LEDs. When I peeled it off, it left marks on the Plexiglas plate, which I cleaned as best I could with rubbing alcohol (see photo).
The result isn't perfect, but it still seems pretty good to me.

                    Samsung un65eh6000 backlight issue
                    by bstewara
                    Hi All,
                    I have a Samsung Un65eh6000 with a backlight issue.

The original issue was backlight current was present but led strips did not light

I tested the backlights and all tested to be working properly.

I assumed then that the power supply was not sending current to the led strips.
Power supply board part number BN44-00560A.
After checking voltages it appears that current output at connector CNL802 was outputting the correct current 189 VDC on pins 1,2,6, and 8.

The issue then was there was no ground on the connector...

Samsung UE48JU7000 screen issue after backlight replacement
                    by ScHAmPi
                    Hi all,

Because of two bright spots and a couple of dark spots I decided to replace the backlights in my Samsung UE48JU7000. See attached photos:

I thought all went well, but after full assembly and testing it out it turns out not all is fine. The backlights are completely fine but I have some weird issues on the right half of the screen. Since I didn't really touch the T-CON board (apart from taking out the ribbons of the display and reconnecting them on assembly) it would be weird that the issue is with the T-CON board... But based on the behavior of the service...

iPad Pro 12.9 5th Gen Backlight Issue
                    by cheebster
Hello, got an iPad Pro A2378 12.9 5th gen with no backlight. Got another test unit without screen, tested the screen, still no backlight with the test unit.
Figured out the backlight on the screen was bad, ordred a new backlight from mobilesentrix, *carefully replaced it* without damaging the lcd, oh well.
Final result, issue is still there, the screen has no back lights. So i'm back to square one, with 3 hours less and 100$ out, issue still on the screen.
The panel is still ok, i can see the apple in the middle of the screen when it kicks in, just no backlight.
                    Anyone...
