Hello.
I'm sharing with those in the know a problem I'm having with my Samsung UE55JS9000T TV, which has a backlight fault with halos of light on the sides (see my photos). This is a model with LED strip backlighting on the sides.
I took the TV apart to remove the panel and noticed that the "yellowish" film on the Plexiglas light diffusion plate was stuck to the LEDs. When I peeled it off, it left marks on the Plexiglas plate, which I cleaned as best I could with rubbing alcohol (see photo).
The result isn't perfect, but it still seems pretty good to me.
The LED bars look like new; there isn't even the slightest hint of a LED that would have heated up and burned the Plexiglas plate, as is often the case. The Plexiglas plate is in perfect condition on the edge that receives the light from the LEDs. All this means I don't know what could explain why the LED light diffusion isn't uniform. Is it because I cleaned the Plexiglas plate, or the yellowish film, or is it a defect in the LEDs that no longer light up as they should? That's the question I'm asking you 😊
I pulled the yellowish film to one side so that the part near the LEDs wasn't the area I cleaned with alcohol, but I still have the same halo of light. This makes me think that it's not this film that's the problem, unless its opacity isn't uniform across the entire surface.
To avoid buying an LED kit for nothing, I'd like to hear some opinions from people familiar with this model to see if it's worth it.
Thank you in advance for your informed and insightful opinions.
