I have a Vizio XVT553SV with the main board being a 0171-2272-3237, white sticker is 3655-0122-0150(7F). The problem started as most, back light comes on and can not turn off TV without pulling the plug. I traced down the problem to a 1117 reg. I replaced the 1117 and got the video to finally come back up. But now it's stuck at the Vizio Logo Screen. I searched around to find out it is most likely the eeprom corrupted. So I got to looking at mine and the eeprom closest to the processor is location U40 and not U14 or U18 like most post are suggesting to check. I have searched to find a U40 eeprom and can not find one, just U18 or U14 on the bay. How do I go about find or getting one? Are the U18/U14 the same as what I need? Thanks for any heads up!

and this is from my notes. It it helps me out when I get confused
Testing voltage regulators.*
This is the way to figure out if the adjustable regulator is good or not:
Notes: we are looking at the regulator with the Big tab up (the big tab is tied internally to the center pin).
Adjustable regulator will have two resistors attached to it, one resistor (Rfb) is between pin1 and pin2, another resistor (Rg) is between pin1 and ground. Pin3 is an input pin.*
The voltage between the Adjust pin (left pin) and the center pin (Pin2, output) will always be 1.25V +/- 2% (this is the precision voltage reference), if it is not, it is bad.
To figure out what the output voltage should be: measure the voltage between pin 1 and ground and add 1.25V to that number, that is the output voltage on pin 2 but you have to make sure you do have 1.25 between pin 1 and 2 as noted above.

Re: Vizio Eeprom location on main board??
U18 U40 and so on are just the location descriptions on the board.
The eeprom itself should have a part number on it and that is what you should be looking for. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Vizio Eeprom location on main board??
Just to clarify something that is clearly sounding confusing at best: the eeprom type has nothing to do with whether the TV is smart or not.
"Eeprom" is, in fact, even not the proper term for the memory because it can be different type, but that's another story.
The point is that smart TVs can use regular eeprom ICs with as little as 8 pins and regular TVs can use NAND flash memories with partitioning.
The programmers for those are more expensive at the moment, but time will sure take care of that too.
Besides, they are not THAT much more expensive.
Definitely not at DIY level yet though.Comment

by Dani_2024Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO
Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...5 Photos -
by jb_BakHey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.
Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board

Pin 01 NC
Pin 02 NC
Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
Pin 04 "N/C"
Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
Pin 06 "GND": N/C
Pin 07 "AC_OFF"... -
by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
by cheeky2I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection... -
Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.
