I'm going to have a look at the inductors when I get in and try upload a pic it's a pain to upload as I'm on my phone most of the time

yeah I'm old fashioned. No good with the new aged smart phones. I need the full 15+ inches of a laptop.

I only picked those inductors because they're easy to spot and essentially a coiled bit of wire so either connection will do for a pick off point.

I have just been looking on line and the TNPH0829 A board looks like it goes into txp50x20b and tx-p42x20e ? Is it the same board might make it easier to find one

          Explained in post 44.

Pictures and service manuals of all 3, then you would have to compare the breakdown parts on the A board in particular the Flash/EEPROMs numbers. usually start with TVRR which dictates what data is loaded on them depending on the model and the region the TV is from.

Then have at look at the chips to see if you think you can desolder and resolder to another board.

Then you can make the final decision. how cheap are the boards for sale locally?

Looks like any of those in the service manual for yours in the 42 may all have the same A board. I did not see any notes or eeprom variants noted, European models I guess, not my region so I can't comment for sure.

The 50" will definitely have different firmware somewhere.

42" and 50" are probably different resolution (1024x768 vs 1365x768)

You're just probing a random pin. I don't see any problem with that reading.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
                                            • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
                                            • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault
