Hello all,
Got a freebie Polaroid TDA-02610C that doesn't display anything on the screen and the power or standby light doesn't come on.
When I first plugged in the TV the standby light worked, then I could press the power button and the light would turn blue (but still had blank screen).
When turning the TV on I noticed the DVD player made a heck of a racket so thinking the connector (circled in the last pic) might be going to it I unhooked it and tried to turn the TV back on. Got nothing so I plugged the cable back in, then plugged the TV in and got no power or standby light. Did I hurt anything by trying to turn the TV on with that cable unplugged?
I've checked the fuse, the diode at D10, voltages at the big cap 167v at a friend's house and 165v at mine (100yo house with old wiring), voltages at con3 20v@24.2v, 12v@11.9v, 5v has no wire attached but the pin showed 5.1v, 5vsb@5.1v, stb@4.7v. These voltages are steady and are after pressing the power button. Only the 5vsb stays at 5.1 when the power is on or off.
Con4 has 3 wires connected. A ground, a white bk_on @ 4.9v, and a yellow apwm @ 3.1v.
About 2 seconds after pressing the power button I can hear a single pop that sounds like its coming from the speakers then after maybe 5 seconds there is a red LED that begins to continuously blink.
I have read that a common problem with these TVs are the 2 10uF 450v caps. To my old tired eyes I cant tell if these are bulged slightly or not and my crappy camera and bad picture taking skills makes it hard to see the tops clearly in the pics.
Should I order those 2 caps and give it a try? or is there any other test I need to do first?
thanks
