Vizio p50hdtv10a Has inverted colors

wen you turn the TV on, the image shows like the colors have been inverted, the picture looks like a negative. Havent cracked the case yet, would like to know where to start first.

any ideas are welcome

Most likely as15 gamma chip on tcon, Fyi pictures are helpful in getting a correct diagnosis.

This is a plasma not LCD, so won't have an AS15.

ok.. so here is the update. When you turn it on, the back lights flash and flicker.. and the center of the screen is super dark.

could it be the back lights?

It's a plasma, so it doesn't have back lights. This sounds like a Y-Sustain issue to me. You can do a check of the panel voltages using a multimeter. Let us know if you have a meter, and we can tell you how to test it.

Please post clear photos of the tvs picture as well as the boards on the left side (Y-sustain) and the right side (Z-sustain) as viewed from the back of the tv after you get the back off.

you can see in the screen picture.. about 1.5 inches aeound the screen is lighter than the rest, and it flashes light and dark..

I have posted the left and right boards as well.

There are several voltage test points you'll want to check. Check using the DC scale on your meter:

Y-Sus: -Vy and VSC voltages - see pic.
Z-Sus: Vzb voltage (aka Zbias) - see pic. The red and black arrows represent the meter's probe.
Power supply: VS and VA - check at the connectors (can't remember if there are labeled test points on the PSU).

Post your voltages so that we can help you identify irregularities.

Just in case you aren't sure, check all voltages to ground, with the exception of the Zbias. To do this, just place your negative probe on a metal part of the panel or the chassis and your positive probe on the particular test point.

Zbias can also be checked relative to ground, as the Z-sustain is entirely ground referenced.

200 might be ok, but you may need to switch to 1000 for VS voltage.

Y-Sus: -Vy and VSC voltages - Vy--- 1897-1972 VSC--511-580
Z-Sus: Vzb voltage (aka Zbias) - 92-93 little variance
Power supply: VS and VA - not sure where VS and VA are at..dont really want to go jabbing probes around a hot board either..

Those Y-Sus voltages don't appear to have been measured correctly, or a decimal should be included. VS and VA can be measured at the connectors where the wires leave the PSU and go to the Y-Sus (should be labeled). There may also be VS and VA test points. I tried to see your test points by looking at a picture I Googled, but it wasn't clear. Post a clear pic of your PSU if you're still unsure.

Ok, so it looks like your Y-Sus is bad. VS and VA voltages can most likely be read at the beige connector on the right; you'll have to figure out which pin(s) are VS and VA by probing if the connector isn't labeled. As long as you stay on the cold side of the PSU, you can probe without fear
