  • Re: Sony 65” issue I caused

    I have had success soldering some of these flexible ribbon cables (when it's the end that attaches to the board as opposed to the glass that has come loose).
    Don't make me dig up the pictures...

    Submitting the UA55F9000 service manual which is the European version of your set. It may be named UN55F900 though...along with the fast track for the UN55F9000 to Toms manuals in the tv repair reference library section.
    Not sure how long it will take to go thru and be viewable there.

  • Re: OMG SAMSUNG UN55F9000 Ultra HD, SMART, 3D 4K

    As for the picture problem, I would lean more towards the FRC board...the board above the T-Con.
    Part number is BN94-06621A. ShopJimmy shows 5 or 6 subs also. It can be found online for about 50.
    If that does fix the picture problem, the tv will come up with a picture showing you that you need to connect the box to the tv with the cable...(when you start the tv with no box connected)
    The new one connect box may not work even if you get the picture problem cured. If it's not an original working F9000 box it may just...

  • Re: Vizio e601i-a3 stuck on logo

    Can you describe what equipment you are using in more detail?
    Preheater, hot air gun, or reflow oven?

    I'm using a pace heating plate under the boards, and a Chinese 852D+ hot air machine. I'm looking to get something better though- BGA work seems to demand some better equipment to stop warping.

  • Re: Samsung PN51E450A1FXZA

    You can use the logic board test patterns to let you know more about the main board.
    Unplug the tv and disconnect the connector between the power supply and main board on the main board end. Short the brown and second wire away from it (which should correspond to the ps on and gnd legend at the power supply end of the connector) with a bread wrapper tie that has been stripped about 1/4 inch on each end or something similar (these are made from a solid core wire instead or stranded wire which can fray)
    Then insert an alligator clip into the...

  • Re: Sharp LC-52D85U Won't turn on

    I would probably carefully take the panel apart and have a look at the lamps as they light. Sharps and Sanyos of that vintage had ccfl lamp problems.

  • Re: Panasonic TH42PZ80-B Lightning Victim

    I'm not certain that the ic is bad, but it doesn't take long to find out once you get the proper equipment. Hdmi ic's are a weak point when it comes to lightning.
    Sometimes you can remove the hdmi ic and have the set come up only to find out that the damage went further than just that ic once you replace it. Many more times the set is fully operational after replacing the hdmi ic.

  • Re: Panasonic TH42PZ80-B Lightning Victim

    Don't know if you are up for this kind of soldering... this advice is meant for you and others with the same situation.
    If repairing this main board is something you would like to try... The main HDMI ic on this main board is the ADV7495B BSTZ-170 that is directly above the HDMI input connectors in your photo.
    If you have chip quik and the flux that comes with it or a good flux, see if you can remove this ic without lifting any of the pads or removing any of the nearby small components. Then remove the remaining chip quik from...

  • Re: Samsung ln40b540p8f flickering

    Have you looked around the board for bad solder joints?
    I have worked on a few of these same power supplies, some have blown mosfets and other components... in this case we usually buy the repair kit from shopjimmy and install it.
    With the situation you are describing, I would look for bad caps and bad solder joints before replacing any components.
    Dying ccfl's are also a possibility.

  • Re: where to buy single smd led to fix strip

    If you saved the old strips, you can scavenge the working leds from them.
    In my experience, most of the leds are still good... depending on how they fail.
    On some strips, the leds short, which causes lots of them to short eventually.
    Most seem to open when they fail, on these strips there are usually one or two bad... and the rest are still good.

    And turn the backlights down after the repair, also instruct the owner of the set to keep the backlights turned down to get them out of what I call...

  • Re: Bn44-00514a psu no stby

    What you are looking at is most likely 30D
    This is probably the EIA-96 marking system for 1% smd resistors.
    EIA-96 code examples:

    01Y = 100 x 0.01 = 1Ω
    68X = 499 x 0.1 = 49.9Ω
    76X = 604 x 0.1 = 60.4Ω
    01A = 100 x 1 = 100Ω
    29B = 196 x 10 = 1.96kΩ
    01C = 100 x 100 = 10kΩ

    more EIA-96 SMD examples...

    01= 100 25= 178 49= 316 73= 562
    02= 102 26= 182 50= 324 74= 576
    03= 105 27= 187 51= 332...

  • Re: Vizio XVT553SV Main Board Short

    I know this is a dead post, but in cases like these, one thing to try is to look up the board on shopjimmy... and click on the photo of the board.
    They often have very large and clear photos of each side of the board.
    In this case, the photo shows the ic to be sil9385ctu

  • Re: SHARP LC-42sb45u powering on and off

    The board with the switches (power, volume, channel, menu) can be unplugged, letting you control the tv with the remote. Try unplugging that board and see if the menu still comes up on its own. If the menu now does not come up on its own, one of the switches is leaky or bad.
    If the menu still does come up by itself, the main board is most likely bad... double check all power supply voltages to the main board just to be sure they are correct. Also you can check sharps website to see if there is firmware for this model that addresses...
